Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, APRIL 2011The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for April 2011 is IKE DAVIS. This is Ike's second Player of the Month Award, and his second consecutive win. (He capped off 2010 with a win in September.) Davis led the Mets in April with 6 home runs, 22 runs batted in, an on-base percentage of .398, and a slugging percentage of .581. The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for April is JONATHON NIESE. This is Niese's first win. The points he was awarded for his April 30 start put him over the top. Jonathon was 1 and 4 in April with a 4.71 ERA. The time Chris Young spent on the disabled list cost him a chance at a win. Despite missing more than two weeks, Young finished less than two points behind Niese. And the Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is a first-time winner, PEDRO BEATO. Pedro, in the first month of his major league career, pitched 14 innings, over 10 games, without allowing an earned run. Beato had a chance at making Schaefer history in April; he nearly became the first reliever ever to be Pitcher of the Month. After the game of April 29, Pedro was still the Mets leading pitcher. Jon Niese's aforementioned April 30 start deprived Pedro Beato of Schaefer immortality.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Great job, BG!And Davis, Niese and Beato.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Congrats to Davis, and great cards. Love how the Neise one mimics those tight shots of the Mets the cards had that year.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Nice 1970 Ike!Nice to see two pre-season question marks, Beltran and Murphy, nicely placed.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Ike Davis: Waker and Baker?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Three blue hats. Anachronistic backgrounds. Gurrrrgeous.Niese really backed into that one, though.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Ike practically pressed against the cardboard trying to get a whiff of that celebratory Topps gum.Well done!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Nice cards, as usual. You can correct Topps error in naming Gaby Sanchez the 2010 first baseman on their All-Rookie Team by putting the trophy where it belongs: on Ike's card.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Niese is SO pensive he could be in Tiger Beat.

I wasn't even aware that that had happened. I suppose I just assumed that Ike had won.John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote:Congrats to Davis, and great cards. (I could have looked at cards from other teams, but didn't.) The earliest profile I saw was in 1974, but by 1978 (or maybe as early as 1976) that started becoming more common. So that's why that photo ended up as a 1978.
