bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Oh boy. The press isn't going to let go of this right away. I'm sure that Tracksuit is jumping on it already:http://www.metsblog.com/2011/04/29/willie-harris-mets-are-more-segregated/I don't think he meant it in a black/white sense but coming from a black man, this could be talked about until he clarifies his statement.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I got Fartinez on speed dial. And if not him, Niewenhuis.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Prediction: Willie Harris: DFA'd
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 One use: the ball was segregated from Willie Harris's bat to end the game last night.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 "Oh I didn't mean anything like that. I just meant that there are some big names over here that don't talk to under .200 hitters like me. Oh wait, not that either. I meant that I just don't know all of the guys yet because some are stuck up and mean. Crap, not that either. It's hard being a new guy... yeah, that's it. I'm new. It'll be fine.[uh, Willie... Sandy Alderson would like to talk to you.]"
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Willie Harris and his .237 batting average can take a long walk off a short pier.Fuck him and his little league helmet.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 There was a headline in the Daily News the other day about the Mets taking a new approach towards veterans. (Something like that.)I thought it meant they were giving up on Harris and/or Hairston, but it was instead about visiting the veterans at Walter Reed.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Tobias Funke and Joe Biden were talking, and they both think Willie should choose his words more carefully.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Waiting to see how Klap and Heyman will work a Madoff reference into this. They'll do it, of course. They're just going to have to work for it.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I'm not surprised , his at bat music in his last few AB's at home was Biko by Simple Minds....or Peter Gabriel was it?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I think you guys are blowing this story out of proportion. That was nothing more than him making nice during a chat with the Burkhardt-level chick. Not that somebody else won't do it if we don't, but that doesn't mean the front office has to over-react too.Harris's bat (or lack thereof) is going to make him expendable at some point along the lines. But I want to see Fartinez get at least three consecutive months where he's hitting and not being placed on a stretcher and I'd prefer not to see Nieuwenhuis up here just to sit on the bench. If Pridie out-plays him between now and when Angel comes back then that's a different story.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Willie might have added, "Seeing as how neither the Mets nor the Nationals are succeeding on the field no matter how closely knit or loosely affiliated the players are, perhaps one of these clubs should attempt to strike a casual-friendliness medium."
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I don't really care about the "segregated" bit. If he misses D.C. so much he can be DFA'd there.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Go home and get your fucking shine box. Be happy you're not riding a fucking minor league bus.
