Fernando Martinez has been placed on Triple-A Buffalo's disabled list with a right hamstring strain. It's not known at this point how long he might be sidelined. Mets GM Sandy Alderson has expressed a desire to keep F-Mart at Triple-A for most, if not all, of the 2011 season, after the 22-year-old had been previously rushed to the majors.

I agree. He should spend more time on the AAA disabled list so that when it's time for him to be on the major league DL, he'll be ready.

Well yes, but most of 2011 would classify through July if he's hitting .400.

he had 2 hits and 3 RBIs last night. Still only had a couple of handfuls of AB this year though.

Fartinez has been back in action for six games this week. He's only had 37 plate-appearances so far, but he's slashing at .353 / .405 / .529 / .935. Nice.

As mentioned elsewhere, Fartinez and Nieuwenhuis oughta be knocking at the door if Pagan's injuries and/or struggles continue

IMO, this game got us one step closer to Gee and Capuano flipping starter/reliever roles.

Well, Cappy might be better served as the primary lefty out of the bullpen as his numbers against left-handed batters aren't horrible.

Tim Byrdak is rusting in the bullpen. He has less innings pitched for the Mets this season than Blaine Boyer.
