Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Comment From MarvelousMarv The evidence seems overwhelming that managers over a certain age simply cannot break from certain traditional theories of the game... Hopefully the organization doesn't lose Hale when it comes time to replace TC.Andy McCullough: Bunt bunt bunt bunt bunt bunt bunt. It's just an ingrained thing. Won't go away overnight.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Comment From KDP Is there any chance the Mets engineer a PR Coup (I know they're really poor with their PR staff but I can dream) and realize maybe one of the things that can settle the fanbase is re-signing Jose Reyes now?Andy McCullough: Why would Jose Reyes re-sign now? For baseball players, free agency is a goal. It's the one time they can actually be paid properly for their value. After taking a team-friendly contract once (which, of course, benefited Reyes as well), why would Reyes accept a deal now? Unless, of course, it was Crawford-esque. And that doesn't make sense for Alderson, either.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Comment From Cary Garter The team's hemorrhaging at the box office. How hard would it be to ramp up the fan-goodwill events-- alumni signings, special concessions events, etc.-- to at least draw a FEW more people in/conserve some semblance of fan loyalty/customer satisfaction?Andy McCullough: Would you buy a ticket if Dave Magadan was signing autographs? Why, yes, smartass. I just might.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 McCullough came off as very thoughtful in a Q&A in the Amazin' Avenue Annual. Guess he's dropped that and opted for the snark his bros in the press box might admire.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Yeah, what a douchemonkey answer that is.Comment From KDP Is there any chance the Mets engineer a PR Coup (I know they're really poor with their PR staff but I can dream) and realize maybe one of the things that can settle the fanbase is re-signing Jose Reyes now?Andy McCullough: Why would Jose Reyes re-sign now? And that doesn't make sense for Alderson, either. Free agency isn't a goal. Getting paid big dollars is a goal and free agency a means to get there. I don't know. Maybe the Mets will give him a a deal now that is like something he'd get as a free agent. And by signing now, he'd therefore avoid the risk that injury or a slump might depress his value.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Agree about the AA Annual/his writing in general. To be fair, Cover It Live sorta lends itself to this sort of exchange.Comment From Denny Lykstra Why do so many closers pick AC/DC for warmup music, when there's so much Herb Alpert to choose from?Andy McCullough: My walk-up music: "What You Know" by TI.My closer music: "One Big Holiday" by My Morning Jacket.MMJ I get. TI? Ick.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Comment From Richard Andy, thoughts on Dickey's post-game comments last night? Refreshing or unnecessary to say?Andy McCullough: Not many of his teammates seem as perturbed, which would be the main concern for Mets fans. I don't have any problem with any player saying what's on his mind.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Comment From Tim If you got into a bar fight and had to pick one player to be by your side to help, who would it be?Andy McCullough: R.A. Dickey and I could reason with them.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Fair enough.Comment From Joey P I am not impressed with this new GM brain trust. How many mistakes have they made already (Boyer, Emaus), and we're not even out of April?Andy McCullough: Why are you judging a new regime in April? Pump the brakes, and drive slow, homey.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Seems like a pretty worthless chat. Both the questions and answers are pretty lame. I now know less about the Mets.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Reasoning your way out of a bar fight --- that works.
