A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Kinda weird spot to be in, or no? Assistant GM and all, but a holdover from the old regime thanks to ownership, & not hand-plucked by the new GM. Wonder if he felt like he's sorta been leapfrogged a couple times in the big picture, with the new GM bringing in his smarty pants BFF's from around baseball. Wonder how much input & how much weight his opinions are gonna carry w/ the Nerd Herd?John Ricco, what do u do really? are u sad?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 It is strange , although his skill set is different than these other guys, he's a paper and contract guy IIRC.What about Wayne Krivsky, he's still there right?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 On the other hand, he'll probably become a popular GM candidate should the Mets become a successful team going forward here.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Well, he's the guy you send your resume to if you want Charlie's job.BTW, Snooze with a good piece today on Samuels' sliminess, saying his position close to the players, but working for owners, made him a key underminer of Randolph and Manuel.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Do you count Ricco on the historic roster of Met GMs? I guess you have to, right?

They never called him an interim, merely that he would handle any immediate duties, but I'm not sure he even handled that. I think there was just a void period of no GM.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I don't know. Some papers have been referring to him as such.

They need him because he's probably the only one left around who can match most of the faces to the names throughout the organization. The managers could do that for just the guys they managed.Without him, guys will be given those "Hello! My name is __________ " badges when the GM and his crew show up at Spring Training.Later
