HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Jeff on Citi Field dimensions (paraphrase):Dimensions were the idea of Omar and his people. We are not closed to the possibility of changing.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Jeff"will listen to the new GM about changing the dimensions of Citi Field".....doesn't sound convincing though , and I hope it doesn't change.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Ricco and Jeff have list of 30 possible candidates; will bring in "6 or 7 to start".
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Francesa"Madoff didn't take on non-jewish clients"is that true?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 It's not only not true, it's ridiculous, since many of his clients were institutions --- such as pension funds and banks --- that would have a hard time discriminating on the basis of creed. He had a lot of connections with Jewish charities and people and bilked the shit out of them. But not just them. Why are you tuning in to that guy?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Tim Teufel, another prominent Jew bilked by Bernie Madoff.Interestingly,Ollie Perez was signed within weeks of the Madoff arrest.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Pretty sure he said that they were all involved in that thought process but yeah he did say that Omar and hsi people wasnted a stadium for pitching, defense and speed.... sounded shitty that he laid it right there.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 It would if there was something terribly wrong with the dimensions, but there isn't.

It doesn't matter whether they actually constitute one.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 They're not pereceived that way by me. They don't seem to be perceived that way by Jeff Wilpon. And yes, I know about Teufel. I was making my point about Francessa through the judicious exercise of irony.

That doesn't speak to me as a guy who's got a real solid plan for the future. I guess I wouldn't be totally opposed to moving them in a handful of feet if need be, but I kinda like the park as it. In fact, I think the park can be rather intimidating at times to other teams who may stumble into Goose Egg sweeps.Flipped on Francessa a bit before, figured talking Mets so i'd listen, see what's up. less time consuming than constantly refreshing twitter instead of working, but he was too annoying going on like he knows what season tickets holders are going to do and how they think and what Mets fans want.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I didn't really mean the gay thing either, you know.

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 What point was Francessa attempting to make when he said Madoff didn't take on non-Jews?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 soupcan wrote:What point was Francessa attempting to make when he said Madoff didn't take on non-Jews?The caller IIRC had mentioned how hurt Fred was by Madoff, I believe Fred said something to that effect during the conference. What's funny is how certain Francesa is when he says things.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 So he only said it as an aside to show that he knows more than we do?Sounds right.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Maybe the most brazen Francesa 'I know more than you' moment came on 9/11As a Long Island resident he was the only one who could get in that day w/o needing a bridge so he took over directly from Imus's extended show that day and solo-ed throughout the afternoon. Obviously it wasn't a day to discuss sports but Mike, never one to limit his own expertise to just one area, didn't hesitate to tell his listening audience about how there was no doubt that the Pennsylvania plane was shot down by our government to prevent further damage and it's only a matter of time before those facts came to light and the rest of us were told what he already knew.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Ron Darling on a conference call for TBS"I just think the Mets' problems go much deeper than letting go the manager and general manager," he said. "They let go some good people today, but thats one step in about 25 steps that theyre going to have to try to complete."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Sheesh, everybody's so smart. What are the other 24, Ron?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Yeah - Ojeda had quite a bit of nothing to say on SNY last night too.
