Our thanks to the COL mgr. for walking Beltran, .195, to pitch to Reyes.

Even Jerry was thinking "that guy over manages."

Mora appearance! And disappearance.

NICE catch from young Fernywood on a sinking liner from Fowler.

And Helton's up and out.

Perfect 8th for Tak.

I mentally brought in Rodriguez to face Helton.

Tapping out to the mound against Joe Beimel --- not vintage Wright.

If I walk Beltran there, I walk Reyes too and go after the rook.

I mean, if you're gonna be a bear...

Had Beimel stay in to face Wright... but bringing a righty in to face Francoeur?

Strap yourselves in. Keep your limbs inside the vehicle.

I was reading blogs some time back to see who to invite to the Pool, and came to subscribe to this Mets blog by this young lady who is as cute as a bug. The amazing thing is that she has this great jones for Jeff Francoeur is consumed to the notion that Manuel is unjustly depriving Jeff of PT.

I know these are emotional issues with the young, and I'm trying to gently explain to the lady that she is gripped by a madness --- an insidious case for French Dengue not unlike the dosage several of Higgins' lads were strincken with in Equatoral Guinea in '56. Or was it '57?

That's what I was thinking.

Ooops, we won!

Pelf needs to be a beast like that every time out, he's not some noodle-armed Pedro, 120 pitches is fine for him

Something he's repeatedly noted. "My arm recovers well" etc. He'd probably be fine on short rest as well.

EarlySeasonPelfreyDotCom!

Well, our last two wins coming 1-0, I think it's clear what the defense and ptiching need to do, and that's be perfect.

It would also help if the pitchers could hit for a little more power. No pressure.

For a guy who supposedly throws 90+ off the mound with that left arm, Ike makes some of the wimpiest looking throws over to 1st when the pitcher is covering. He looks like he's making fade-away jump shots, shot-puts, Easter-egg tosses, etc.
His throws to 2nd are OK when he's trying to go 3-6-3 so it's obvious he CAN still throw. He's just one of those guys who doesn't look like he knows how to throw soft when necessary. He's like one of those pitchers who suddenly look like a spaz when he gets a come-backer and just has to lob it over to 1st.

I've noticed that..but I've always noticed it's always a perfect throw right to where the pitcher will be. a soft lob is actually probably easier for a pitcher running and covering to grab.

I didn't see tonight's throw, but I'd generally agree with Ceetar. Ike looks like he's got a nice soft touch on tosses to the pitcher covering first.

Hey Mr. .241 BA, 289 OBP, bite me:

How do pickup games in Inwood strike you?[/quote:1eaegnms]

I'm onto this spoiled pampered manipulative **********.[/quote:1eaegnms]

Evan Roberts does a pickup game most Sundays. I'm sure Frenchy would fit right in.

Hate all you want. The real story here is Molly Fletcher and her bizarre performance of speaking in the first person plural on behalf of her client.

We want to play every day, Francoeurs agent Molly Fletcher said yesterday. We prefer to play in New York. But if were not going to play every day in New York, we absolutely welcome the opportunity to play every day somewhere else.

Wait, are you referring to Frenchy or Molly?

Dig the 1-0 game. Not much to complain about. Yeah, we didn't hit much but that Ubaldo guy is pretty good. Disappointed with Tejada failing to cover the bag quickly enough when Thole had the runner thrown out at second. Very pleased with Pelfrey's performance.

Carter should be giving Davis a day off; looked like he needs it, perhaps even more than Beltran did.

GREAT game tonight.
And this is one I would not have bet on us winning.

If Pelf really is back we got some much needed steam for this choo choo.

If Pelf's slump was entirely attributable to pitch-tipping, it's a shame that no one picked up on that earlier. (No one on the Mets, that is --- the opposition was onto it.) Because if the 1st half Pelf was the real deal, the Mets would be in the thick of it if not for Pelf's streak of ugly starts.

Ike is suffering from his first long MLB stretch of "the life."
