batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Report: Royals not looking to make deal with MetsESPN's Jayson Stark reports the Royals have "no interest" in making a multiplayer trade with the Mets.Stark quotes an unnamed source who shot down reports the teams were contemplating a swap of bad contracts before Saturday's nonwaiver deadline. Players such as Jeff Francoeur, Oliver Perez, Luis Castillo, Gil Meche, Jose Guillen and Kyle Farnsworth were mentioned in the reports.Kansas City, though, has expressed interest in acquiring Francoeur, who was drafted by the Braves when current Royals general manager Dayton Moore was in charge of Atlanta's farm system.http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/article/2010-07-26/report-royals-not-looking-make-deal-mets
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I guess someone took away the Royals' 2006 copy of the Baseball Register and plugged in their computers. Dang; so close.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 francoeur for farnsworth.c'mon, lets make it happen.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Farnsworth is such a mongoloid, I dunno.btw, Meche was destroyed in a rehab start yesterday. KC fans think his issue is that he needs surgery but hasn't agreed to get it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I'd hardly be the first person to say this, but Farnsworth always seemed like a guy who does less with more compared to just about anyone in MLB.Good "stuff", but over 12 years now there have only been a few seasons or partial seasons with anything other than mediocre to lousy results.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Royals Meche likely done for the seasonTHE ASSOCIATED PRESSWednesday, July 28, 2010Kansas City Royals right-hander Gil Meche will have surgery on his pitching shoulder that will probably end his season.Meche, 31, has been on the disabled list since May 29 with what the club described as bursitis in the shoulder. Meche, the first upper-tier free agent the Royals signed, has battled injuries the past two seasons. He has one year left on a five-year, $55 million contract.I imagine it will be some type of cleanup in there with the scope, Kansas City Manager Ned Yost said. He still has irritation. Its not getting better. Were probably looking at scoping it somehow and getting him cleaned up and having him ready for next year.Yost said, I would imagine so, when asked if Meche would be out for the season. Now a pitcher just has to be rumored to be heading to the Mets to get hurt! This rumor sucked.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Meche & Ollie both have this year plus one more to go on contracts at just about the same terms, but Meche looks like he's done for this season. So a hypothetical Q: If it were a straight up deal of just OP for GM do you still do it anyway?
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Meche can't stop the bleeding.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I'd do it immediately, twice tomorrow, and thrice more on Sunday.
