Maybe a collective KTE here, as I'm frantically packing for a last minute vacay.

Mets (49-46): sucking, just swept by the DBags and 1-6 on the current trip.

Dodgers (50-45): sucking, just got a complete game shutout from Chad Billingsley to break a 6-game losing streak.

Probables:

Thursday, all-Japanese affair, 7:10 Pacific

Tak2 v. Hiroki Kuroda, 7-8, 3.74 ERA

Friday, 7:10 Pacific

Johan v. Vicente Padilla, 4-2, 3.65 ERA

Saturday, 1:10 Pacific

Big Pelf v. TBD

Sunday, 1:10 Pacific

RA v. TDB

Lefty stud Clayton Kershaw was just handed down a 5-game suspension for throwing at some bro on the Giants the other night. He'll probably appeal, but may miss this series anyway. Not sure who will throw the extra game. Sorry. At this moment, neither does Dodgers.com.

Quickie Dodger stuff:

Furcal (.337 BA) has been pretty awesome this year, remember him? I barely do, too. After a torrid start and then an injury, Andre Ethier (.916 OPS) is back and playing real well again. Would-be stud Matt Kemp has underperformed a good bit this year (.261/.317/.457 = .774), but James J-Lo Loney has been an RBI machine despite little real HR power (6 HR, 64 RBI, .789 OPS). Their lineup tonight, which should be similar for the series:

Furcal - SS
Carroll - LF
Either - RF
Kemp - CF
Blake - 3B
Loney - 1B
Belliard - 2B
Martin - C
Pitcher

That's all I got.

Pitch in if you got stuff. Go Mets. See u guys later.

Former Mets in Los Angeles: None

Former Dodgers in New York: Cora, Blanco, Dessens, Torre and Bowa on the pine

Their closer, Jonathan Broxton, has a large tush. I like it.

The Dodgers are talking to the Pirates about Paul Maholm. He's scheduled to go for the Buccos tomorrow. If he doesn't, maybe he's TBD.

Manny's on the DL

Also, I think our strategy in this series should be to somehow get Torre and his bench coach ejected so they'll be forced to resort to Mattingly again.

i'm convinced the Mets have a big run in them still: they've had two already with a lineup a lot shittier than the one they'll be using here. Also, they've shown an admirable immunity to humiliation.

They showed that last year too, often winning grittily the day after a cockpunch loss. But mercy sakes, I cna't remember ever tuning out of an extra-inning tie so utterly prepared to wake up to bad news.

Jason Bay, I look to you
When you hit, the world is new
At least some folks have told me so
You ain't hit much, so I don't know
