G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Thole a smart kid to be hanging out with Dickey on the bench -- why yes, I am his personal catcher, keep me on the roster.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Adam Rubin says that word in the clubhouse is that the Mets might open the 2011 season against the Marlins in Puerto Rico. Nothing against Puerto Rico, but after watching Reyes get hurt on the artificial turf, how can they agree to this?[/quote:tijxw5db]They don't have a lot of a choice, unfortunately. After compliance with the basic agreement, team conflicts and preferences, etc. there's not a lot of room to move stuff around.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 But why does have it be the Mets, other than the fact that they're awesome. Let the Phillies have the opportunity to enjoy mofongo and tour the Bacardi factory... and have the 4+ hour flight back.

Between the Mets' Puerto Rican players and the thousands of Puerto Ricans who are Mets fans in NY and in Miami, it makes sense. Ben Grimm's trip to Puerto Rico this past month has me thinking of a road trip to see the Mets in PR if they play there in 2011.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 That was great -- Pagan was doubling to second live (or live-ish, since the radio is well ahead of the Foxcast) and then they cut to the between inning tape of Manuel, and Pagan was walking in front of the dugout. That Angel, he's everywhere!

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 That was a home run at Shea.(I say that about every deep fly ball that doesn't go out of Citi, conveniently forgetting there weren't that many home runs flying out of Shea.)
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Yes, it's a fucking nightmare having to choose between the guy hitting the beejeezus out of the ball and playing better defense and the guy who brings a large smile and a .306 OBP to the ballpark.I mean, Pagan's 2-2 in the game you're watching. But, hey... it's hard to sit that arm and smile.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Pure hustle from Omar Infante.Well, it was.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Jose Reyes: most expressive Met face since Al Leiter.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Oh, for fuck's sake.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Big city markets get All-Stars elected. Just ask Evan Longoria and Ryan Braun.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Last thing on Mike Pelfrey's mind: Being snubbed for the All-Stars.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Braves haven't hit a ball hard yet and they've got, what, about 17 baserunners already?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Oh, Young Padawan Ike. You have much to learn, yet. This series sure is looking like the inverse of the last home tilt with the Braves, no?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Ha, Foxhead thinks bunts in the air are acceptable if done correctly. How about YOU SHOULD NEVER BUNT A BALL IN THE AIR!Nice try by Davis.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) Good Pelfin', right there. Edited July 10, 2010 by Guest
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 8 stranded in 4 innings for the braves, lets stop allowing baserunners before bad things happen
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I am the Braves. I fall before the Pelf.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Pelfdini escapes...again![/quote:3nx6zxrt]All the tougher a trick, considering he's getting the tea-sandwich strike zone: edges cut off.
