G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I sure hope Jerry Manuel isn't looking for a double dare vis-a-vis another episode of Frankie-Go-Round.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Reyes: Either he plays or he goes on the DL. This is just getting stupid and of course exactly how Omar and the Mets typically mismanage these situations. First it was going to be Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday. Now it's Monday and he's still not in the lineup. Unacceptable.

Instead of losing him for two weeks, the six days out are what he needs and he comes back and is healthy vs. the Braves this weekend in what looms as the most important series the Mets have played since the end of 2008. Put him on the DL and there's no chance he'll be available against Atlanta. It's a gamble, but not without an upside.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I know that, as of the moment, the Reds are the highest scoring team in the NL - by 20 runs over 2nd place MilwaukeeYeah the home park helps, both in terms of games played there to date (46 Home - 37 Away) and in RS/G at home vs on the road (5.39 vs 4.54) but 1st is still 1st.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 MLB should have a 7-day DL but the owners are too cheap because they'd be forced to add players more often.Meanwhile, who is the back-up MI if Reyes can't play? The bench tonight is Barajas, Blanco, Feliciano, Carter, Reyes.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Charlie Manuel's a genius. He planned it that Votto would make the Mets pay for the snub.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 It's Military Appreciation Night. It's the Fifth of July. It's Pyrotechnics Night. It's the first time the Mets have been home since Juy 4. It's still the holiday weekend. Fred Wilpon is a driving force behind the Welcome Home Veterans program for which caps with the red, white, blue are sold with 100% of proceeds going to that effort. So why aren't the Mets wearing those caps?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 No fair springing a pitcher the Mets aren't ready for on them.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
