I guess Dessens gets a reprieve because (a) he's fresh, and/or (B) he's got no options.

Yeah, interesting. Mejia has been getting the job done but hasn't exactly been Mr. Clean, and shirley they ought to be concerned we'll need a good starter later if not sooner. Perhaps we'll swap out Acosta and Elmer when we can.

Igarashi would have been good to have back last night.

We have a plan; our
plan... we have a plan A, plan
B... I like our plan?

Acosta had an ERA of 3.00 and 14 K's in 12 innings (albeit with 8 BB's, yes, I know)

Good thing Ollie's still in the pen though.

Why does Dessens get destay? Simple need for a long man? I'd rather have Manny than Elmer (which sounds like a draft for a fantasy league of imaginary friends).

Acosta is probably on a split contract so he now has to make a minor league salary instead of a major league salary. Meanwhile, Perez makes his $12M for the year regardless of where he pitches. Perez's selfishness not only hurts the team as a whole, because he's almost worthless right now (you can have $12M and still be worthless) and takes up a roster spot, he also hurts his teammates. I hope he's a pariah in the clubhouse.

I'd be shocked if the players even think twice about this sort of stuff - except maybe to hope that they'd also have the right of refusal if they ever found themselves in a similar situation.
If Ollie is a pariah in the clubhouse it's not for this reason.

I certainly don't hope Perez is a pariah in the clubhouse, even if he's one here. Nor do I think he's almost worthless.

He's certainly not worthless, although I do agree that he's pretty much taking up a roster spot. I wonder what the plan is with him, but then, I wonder what the plan is with Mejia.

I wasn't particularly enamored with Dessens or Acosta anyway, just glad Iggy's back and hopefully successful again.

I wonder if Mejia's recent failures has convinced the Mets it's not like he could help them as a starter this year anyway (probably true), so no reason to get him stretched out just yet

mejia was excellent yesterday. Struck from the sky by a lightning bolt of awsome. If they haven't started Operation Stretch yet, it's likely becaues they're not particularly confident his absence won't hurt the pen in the near future.

Jerry says Igarashi back in eight inning role giving Nieve a blow and "freeing up" Pedro for matchups.
