Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 OK, we're going for a complete reboot here, so let's leave out all photopun variations Let's go, Mets! "Lettuce Van Gogh, Mets!" and "Lesbians Wake Me up Before You Go-Go, Mets!" They were fun, but it's just. Not. Working. We have Pelfrey going against Derek Lowe tonight. Lowe, self-loathers may want to ignore, has a Perezian ERA, but is not being demoted. This thing will pass, and pass violently. Hold on, get ready.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I have no doubt some ATL ass will be kicked tonight.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What we need is a good fight song. What would Rage Against the Machine think of the Braves and their insensitive use of Native Americans as a mascot? Or we could rise up against those that seek to keep us down! Or better yet, focus on perseverance. We WILL hold on damnit! On Edit: Admins! Help!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What about trash talking?[/quote:3ls03iqe]Perhaps if you didn't want to act like a 10-year-old. Seriously, the cartoon-character-urinates-on-[insert object of derision here] has really run its course.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 If the CPF can't solve its YouTube problem then I don't know how much hope to have for the Mets ability to solve their problems.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Personally, I think the over-reliance on Youtube is part of the problem itself.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 we haven't release Gary matthews jr yet?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 METS:Reyes-SSCastillo-2BBay-LFCarter-RFWright-3BDavis-1BBarajas-CMatthews, Jr.-CFPelfrey-RHPNo Francoeur. Once is a day-off, twice can be seen as a benching (especially as he returns home).
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 you can't really put Pagan for Matthews aside. No reason to sit Pagan or play Matthews. Not sure Bay's 0-13 should be hitting third or Carter, a guy who couldn't make the team out of Spring, fourth). Matthews is 3-17 against Lowe, if you were curious. Although that might be higher than his average this season..
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Matthews in a pinch hitting roll is doing nothing, they should start him in all the games this series and if his current form holds up then cut him, maybe he needs a run of games to get going.

Holding to some thought that he could 'get going' is just looking to fail. Put your best players on the field as often as possible. Pagan is that. Give him a day off when we're not reeling.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Then cut him, any good team can rest the regular players , give them a blow as Eddie C would say.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Matthews went 2-2, and Jerry seems to want to get the guy going, and if this is what it takes, this is what it takes. But bad medicine is what I need. If he fails to get going, it may hasten the end of his tenure, rather than prolong it.More interesting to me is how Carter couldn't buy a spot on the roster the first six weeks, and is now the team's cleanup hitter two games in a row.See, Jerry learns! Overlearns, maybe, but he learns! Go, Jerry!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I think Jerry is going to pull a deal where GMJ starts three days in a row while Frenchy, Pagan, & Bay each sit a day (or more in Francoeur's case).

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 A guy who couldn't make the team out of spring" is kind of a specious argument, innit?[/quote:xorwnr3r]Very much so, particularly as it was abundantly clear that Carter deserved to make the team on merit, but was passed over for a veteran instead.

Whatever you put in, the result is "If Jerry does it, it's wrong."

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Yeah, but that logic is doomed thinking. It can be used to discredit anybody and any decision.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Heading out a few minutes to take advantage of $1 Upper Reserved Monday with a couple of friends. Happy to see Carter in the lineup, though I'm sure the sorority girls in Francoeur t-shirts will be disappointed.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Offensive spottiness be damned-- at least we're spraying line drives all over the field.
