Don't look now, but the Nationals caught up to us in a tie for second in the East. Time to knock them and their -17 run differential back down a few pegs.

What I don't entirely understand is why a Hall of Famer like Pudge Rodriguez signs with a going-nowhere team like the Nats.

Between Strasburg, Zimmermann, Desmond and the rest, they've got a brighter future than he does at this point. (And where else is he starting?)

The image in my head is less "beer-goggle J-Lo" and more "aging HS Lothario/ex-homecoming queen, boozily gazing across the peanut-strewn bar as 'You're No Angel' plays on the jukebox, desperate for a warm pair of lips and legs... and some last-chance validation of them as a sexual being."

Y'know, with a chest protector.

He gets $3 million/year from Washington. Where else is he going to get paid like that?

I kinda meant it the other way around -- did not express myself clearly. It's unusual for a team that's rebuilding to sign an aging, high-priced superstar who's not going to be part of their future.

I'm of the opinion that D Wright has K'ed enough the past week that he should put the ball in play 4 or 5 times tonight.

Why even hit anything to left field in the air when conditions are
like they are the last couple of days?

Didn't Klapisch credit the wind for Maine's stellar performance on the last homestand? So, um, Bob, why is it not helping now?
