Oh fudge.

I thought having a guy up there who swings would be the best thing possible considering taking didn't work for the two previous batters.

Paul Schrieber is the new Angel Hernandez.

If it's a managerial battle of wits, unless the game goes 20, the Mets are in trouble.

Even Angel Hernandez thought it was a bad call.

What's the point of Oliver Perez other than to serve as a money sponge?

(Which sounds like an infomercial item, actually.)

At least we have riveting post-game analysis by Bobby O.

**rolleyes**

To be fair, the Giants got screwed on a couple calls as well. The bases loaded situation Romo came into was aided quite a bit by Dan Runzler not getting the high strike.

In a managerial battle of wits, the Mets are best to simply surrender for they are virtually unarmed.

For the record, I had Francoeur as our third baseman and Pelfrey our left/right fielder (switching with Bay as necessary) if we tied it.

Release Catalanotto and Matthews NOW!!!, call up hitters and a new starter from AAA as well NOW!!!

You know how they've simplified fast-food cash registers-- with pictures and such-- so that even semi-literate workers can punch in accurate, precise orders?

Is there any way we can make on-field decision-making like that? Like, with a laminated mat or something?

The O could have Jerryproofed this game and didn't, but what an unsatisfying 2 of 3 this was overall. I mean, walk-offs are nice, but it'd be cool to get one without first having to overcome your own blown save.

The pen gave back the lead in all three games, and of course blew 2 of 3 in Cincy too.

UGL double E.

well the pen, particularly Nieve (and i think Feliciano) have been overused by Jerry, and these are the results. If you think its ugly now wait until August when Nieve has pitched 65 of the Mets 100 games played.

That was CBS's thought on the Mets in their latest power rankings

Well, it's good to see folks waking up to the obvious.

I'm not enamored with Cohen's silly "Perpetual Pedro" and "Nightly Nieve" nicknames , and yeah come July both will be shot.

Still, though, cultural shifts have to be counted in the increments they take place in.

And really, we should be rooting not for Jerry's dismissal (though that will inevitiably happen), but for Jerry to wake up to how his bullpen usage is working against his team's interests. It's not like there's any guarantee that his replacment will be awake in this regard. I was unhappy with Randolph's bullpen handling, but I never expected I would absolutely abhor his replacement's. At least Randolph did thinks like try to keep Duaner Sanchez and Aaron Heilman working on alternative days in equal status situations.

Wright was right about that pitch (Davis in the next AB not so much) but I suspect his blow-up had as much to do with the mounting pile of strikeouts he's had recently as it did with that specific one.
The boy's got to be getting frustrated at this point.

Oh, yeah. 8 of 9 ABs over the two days ended in Ks (the 9th was the sac fly), and about half of those came with men in scoring position.

For what it's worth. Adam Rubin reveals that it would have been Jon Niese in left field had we tied the game. (And, I guess, Jason Bay at third?)
