bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Murphy is out 4 to 6 months:Andy Martino SurfingTheMets Daniel Murphy's MRI showed a high-grade tear of the MCL in right knee, per team spokesperson. Out 4-6 months, but won't need surgery.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 A "high grade tear" of a ligament but no surgery. That sounds odd.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 When tears are of the highest quality, they heal themselves?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I feel as bad about this as I felt about Jon Niese's injury last year. That is just such a shame.

And if the Nationals player was guilty of a dirty hit, I hope that the Bisons remember it this afternoon. From the Buffalo News:Murphy was carried off the field in the seventh inning after Syracuse's Leonard Davis roll-blocked him sliding past second base on a double-play pivot. Dirty play. You wonder if it's season-ending. Especially since it's the same knee Murphy injured in spring traing. At any rate, the Mets' experiement with Murphy as a utility man is over for a while.http://blogs.buffalonews.com/insidepitch/2010/06/murphy-and-thole-out.htmlMOTHERf*cker. Once saw a teammate go down to a bad ligament sprain thanks to a similar roll-block at second. "Dirty pool" doesn't begin to describe this shit.Is it wrong to call for a bounty on a career minor-leaguer?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I certainly don't advocate that, but I wonder if there is any payback, it might come at the big league level, since it was a slumming big leaguer --- with as much loyalty, presumably, in Flushing as in Buffalo --- who was hurt.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Actually I think the thug who rolled him was considered a small-time prospect still.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Choppy video of the slide .
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Sure looked like the rolling block to me.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Begun at the bag, no less-- Murphy played the pivot like a veteran.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 All right, all right, all right.Daniel Murphy wanted to contribute as a pinch hitter to the Mets in September, but his rehab from a knee injury suffered in a takeout slide with Triple-A Buffalo wasn't rapid enough to allow for it. However, the organization plans to send Murphy to the Dominican Republic this winter. Murphy primarily will play second base for Aguilas. He also should see action at first base and in left field.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I can hear those green t-shirts in the team store getting marked up as we speak.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Yes, yes, and yes.The only problem with working him at second was that I think working him there in the AFL and then an injury costing him his outfielding reps in the Winter League maybe hurt him as an outfielder. So I hope he moves around some.Does Chris Aguila play for Aguilas?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Sadly, he's in NO with the Zephyrs, and unlikely to play winter ball in the DR.A missed opportunity.

DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 AFL rosters announced today. Met assignments include pitchers Robert Carson and Josh Stinson (both of Binghamton), C Kai Gronaeur (St. Lucie) and IF Jordanny Valdespina (Bingo). An additional pair of pitchers and an OF to be determined will join pitching coach Ricky Bones on the Mesa Solar Sox.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Interesting. No real big shots there.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Is Daniel Murphy still releveant?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 If he can play a passable second, he sure as hell is.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Of course he is. Don't be such a day-trader.
