bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I don't live in the NY area. I have Extra Innings which shows games in standard definition. Monday night's game is on ESPN which, of course, is in HD. The question is: do I watch the ESPN telecast, in glorious HD but with national announcers who will probably drive me nuts, or watch a non-HD broadcast with Gary, Keith & Ron. I'm leaning to SNY--what would you choose?

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 (edited) GKR. For as much as HD may delight the senses (and, honestly, except for replays, I could live without it-- it's not nearly the benefit that it is for hockey or football), Miller and Morgan will make you wish you had a couple fewer. Guest Kong76 Guests Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 ESPN with the sound off seems a good compromise.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I love HD, but no contest - there's no chance in hell I'd want to sit through Joe Morgan if I can avoid it.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 SNY, easily. HD is very nice, but it ain't all that.Yesterday's game was the first I ever watched in HD, and I loved how the blue NEW YORK lettering on the grey uniforms popped. I watched the last few inning in a non-HD TiVo delay, and the uniforms didn't look nearly as good. But I'd gladly sacrifice the extra definition to have a more enjoyable listening experience.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Gary, Keith and Ron are HD for the ears and the mind. Give yourself an aural and mental treat.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I'm hooked on HD, especially for football, but I ain't giving up our booth for anything.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 No SNY for me. I'm stuck with ESPN.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Well this sucks, looks like I'm stuck with Joe Morgan, as MLB Network has elected not to broadcast the only game on tonight.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 ESPN has a Sunday night exclusivity deal -- no other network can air a MLB game after 8 PM on Sundays. So you had no choice, all along.Having said that, I have had HD too long to suffer through a standard definition game, dumbass announcers notwithstanding.

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 As bad as the ESPN guys may be - I did get a kick out of Orel Hershiser continually giving Joe Morgan grief for his 'pitchers who hit .200 are actually hitting .300'.There were some other instances where Orel questioned Joe's logic and thought process. It seemed that Morgan was getting a little peeved.

Guest attgig Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 fire joe morgan?i don't live in the ny area, and i only get local hd, so.... i guess for hd, that leaves me with fox?although, i have subscribed to mlb tv, which is great! =) sny in hd! =)
