metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 I'm liking Valdez quite a bit.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Meh. He got no bat.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 its 8-0 and Castillo is thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double.Do other teams have shitty fundamentals like this? it seems chronic in Met-land.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hey Dave Lennon-- he's making something happen!Oh, and mazel tov, Mr. Rye.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hey, a home run! I missed it on the gamecast. No kaboom? Boy.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Oh, Jenrry. As far as hangy curves go, those were noice. Maybe he can work out the breaking stuff with the big-leaguers, after all.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Light Frenching to open the 7th, then Ferny Tat-toos a fastball. 2nd and 3rd, none out.POP QUIZ: Who hits into the double-play this inning, and how does it work?

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 When I do time and a half to get the baby fed and abed, and the starting pitcher can't be bothered to do the same, I'm just a little black rain cloud.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I'm pretty much rooting for Nieve to go black-hat and just start plunking dudes.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Geez it's not even bad luck, it's just shitty baseball, same as we saw too much of last year.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 And it's, like, shapeless and formless, too. Amorphous, personality-free bad. (Hence my rooting for the plunking. At least if this team were assholes, they'd be something.)
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Castillo was actually safe on that play but the point holds that he shouldn't have been stretching it.I was surprised to see Jerry not allow Valdes to go out for a third inning. Seems like an unnecessary over-use of relief pitchers when we were already down 8 runs.Bad, bad game (and apparently it's only get worse here as Nieve and Takahashi fail to impress).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Early holes have a way of exposing a team ever-deeper.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 And Tulowitzki strikes out to end the inning.Although if you told me he had late dinner reservations, and had simply gotten bored with the scoring carousel, I could be convinced of that.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 At least we're into the bullpen. One of the really sucky-suck things about a blowout is that --- particularly in the first game of the series --- our pen is burnt while theirs naps.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Shouldn't a team take a strike as a rule in this sort of situation?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 It's something that bothered me last year. Seems like a fundamental issue. Take a strike if the tying run is behind you in the ninth. Take a strike if the tying run is well behind you in the eighth. If nothing else, make the pitcher pitch.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Reyes swings at the first pitch a foot inside.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I CAN'T BELIEVE I TRANKED MY KID FOR THIS!

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 When Maine threw that ball down the right field line, it was like an usher had just shown 2009 to its seat.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 A lot of pressure on Niese and tonights IGT starter after me and Maine sucked elephant balls.
