bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 [u:jxj4yj4e]The Washington Post[/u:jxj4yj4e]'s new beat reporter (Chico Harlan is now the Post's reporter in Japan), gives the Mets a couple of shots today. I don't mind us insulting the Mets, I do it all the time, but not an outsider.First paragraph: "The Washington Nationals and New York Mets, connected by Amtrak, I-95 and grim expectations, will play 17 more times this season, meetings that will most likely determine which one of them finds solace in not finishing last."Last paragraph: "For now, the Nationals can find comfort in two things. The season is only four games old, and on Saturday, at least they get to play the Mets again."http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/09/AR2010040906110.html

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 1-2-3 1st with a K for Ollie.I like it.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Up and over the plate... ugh. Taveras might as well have closed his eyes and swung. (He may actually have done that.)
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Ollie strikes out the side in the 2nd.But allows a single, a walk and a triple. 2-0 Bad guys.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 2-out, 2-run triples to the 8 hitter suck.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 2nd and 3rd, no outs. No reason we shouldn't have those 2 runs back after this inning.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Lannan, fastball left over the outside part of the plate.Oh, you just know that's getting...FRENCHED.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 You fucking kidding me , Tatis gets booed loudly for popping up with the bases loaded.Blanco and Perez tie the game at two.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Perez helps his own cause with an RBI single, fuck YOU DH!

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Zimmerman joins the K club on a nasty slider as OhPea cruises through the third like a shark looking for minnows. OLLIE OLLIE OLLIE!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Oy oy oy.Desmond fumble gives the Mets drunk bases with nobody out. Again.Guess how many runs scored? Go ahead... I'll give you a minute.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 0?There's not much that pisses me off more than that.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 Bases loaded, none out, two innings in a row, and the hitters only got one run in (Ollie drove in the other one).
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 What bothers me is that I've been conditioned to expect-- forget the "half-"-- the team to blow bases-loaded situations. I'm happily surprised when someone actually crosses home these days.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Obviously the Francoeur AB killed that inning. That's at least the third time in five games where one of our guys has hit the ball less than 2 ft from home plate. Wright did it once in the Florida series and so did at least one other guy.btw, 2.5 runs is the average number a team should expect from a bases-loaded/no-outs situation. - so we're down three today since it happened twice and only 2 runs came out of them.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Oh, Ollie, Ollie, Ollie.DWright's D saves the day before things can get even worse.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Ollie, call your Proctologist. Taveras is a pain in your ass.Later
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Y'know how they say a guy "scattered" a bunch of hits, if he lets up more than a handful of baserunners and only lets 1 or 2 of them score?Ollie's the exact opposite sort. He clusters his runners. He's a clusterer. Lord knows he's clustering today.
Guest Astro Annie Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I just turned on the FAN .... am I welcome here?
