Alex Cora is the Schaefer Mets Player of the First Five Games of July.

Can he hold the lead for the remaining 26 days? How motivated is he to see himself on a 1970's Topps baseball card?

These games were actually due to close on Wednesday, but I guess my brain took an All-Star break too. Instead, the last three pre-break games, played at Citi Field against the Braves, will close on Friday morning. If you haven't voted yet and intend to, please try to get your numbers in today.

Voting for Monday and Tuesday night's losses in Arizona will close on Friday morning. Tuesday's game is still rather lightly voted. As yet we've only heard from Edgy DC, Ashie62, G-Fafif, Kong76, themetfairy, Benjamin Grimm, and John Cougar Lunchbucket. Nevertheless, voting will close tomorrow. If you'd like to chime in, please try to do so today.

I don't really know who is setting himself up to be Player of the Month. Pagan, I guess.

Voting for Tuesday night's series-opening win over the Cardinals at Citi Field will close on Friday morning. Vote today if you haven't yet done so (and intend to).

Many voters gave Beltran (2-3, RBI) more than Francoeur (1-4, 3RBI) -- not having seen all of the game, may I ask why?

Voting for Wednesday's 13-inning loss to the Cardinals at Citi Field will close sometime over the weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday morning. So far we've only heard from six voters: themetfairy, Edgy DC, G-Fafif, Benjamin Grimm, LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr, and Frayed Knot. If your name isn't on that list, and you'd like it to be, please get your votes in today.

To me, it was almost a push. Francoeur's blast was key when it came, but it was all he offered of value... and the fact that it came with two men on became diminished in importance-- in my mind-- as more runs came. Beltran not only got two hits-- one of which was a double-- but got on base another time (once working a walk off of Wainwright).

That doesn't quite sum it up for me. He went 2-3, with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. I don't know if I gave him any defensive credit, but to me, the biggest chunk of the difference was the fewer outs.

1. I know the rules say don't vote zero (I disagree with the rationale) so I voted a symbolic half-point to Pagan today.

2.

Benjamin Grimm wrote:
Pretty poor voter participation for this game. Seems we're hitting the summer doldrums...

I saw this in a voting thread -- I voted but realized after making the post that voting had already closed.

I don't run the system and don't get to complain about the free service I utilize --so I will repeat my comment that I think voting closes much too quickly, particularly in the summer when people are traveling and may not be able to vote each game within 3 days.

I would like to second Gwreck's suggestion that voting stay open for longer. Also, I think this is the only game I haven't voted in the last month so my apologies for that.

Voting for Thursday afternoon's businessman special victory over the Cardinals at Citi Field will close on Tuesday morning. (If you haven't yet voted, try to do so today.)

I'll post another reminder tomorrow, but the three-game series that just concluded against Arizona will close on Wednesday, and the July Players of the Month will be announced.

To Gwreck's point, I've seen that the majority of votes come within less than 24 hours after the game has ended, leaving them open longer than that brings diminishing returns. I prefer to keep things moving; if I fall well behind in the tallying it becomes an effort to get caught up. Having said that, I'll be offline and out of touch for about two weeks, beginning August 19, so about half the games in August will be open for considerably longer than usual.

All three games from this past weekend's series against Arizona will close on Wednesday morning. This will also close out the month of July, so look for the big Players of the Month announcement tomorrow as well. Anyone who hasn't voted yet, and intends to, should get their votes in today.

A historical question on Schaefer votes: when real Schaefer voting took place, were 10 points always awarded irrespective of the team's bad performance?

The August 8 game is still a bit short on votes. So far we've only heard from Edgy DC, LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr, themetfairy, G-Fafif, Benjamin Grimm, and Ashie62.
