G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 As tired of the Harrahs commercials in their second year as I was of the Foxwoods commercials in their...well, in their second airing. The Mets are enough of a casino for me.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Russ Adams moves to the top of the Mets' list!Alphabetically anyway.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 MLB Network cuts to a program already in progress - Harold Reynolds hitting grounders to some fat guy.

Reynolds, Leiter , Casey ,Plesac and the rest all stading around with bats on shoulders yapping about the game. I know that have a shitload of air to fill but jeez.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I prefer when they wear their MLBN warmup suits over when they take off their suit jackets and field ground balls in ties. It's a little too Fox on NFL. I don't really understand suits and ties for baseball (or anything, I suppose).Sartorial tangent aside, MLBN is an asset, particularly when they have something to cover or talking about. Watching Jimmy Rollins or Tim Lincecum on a pretend field displaying fundamentals while Barry Larkin, Harold Reynolds and Al Leiter cluck approvingly -- not my favorite part.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Wow, reading an IGT recap of a day game I missed is just the fucking best thing. Spring is nigh.Having said that, I choose Bailey AND Jennifer, in the same pudding filled hot tub. Amateurs.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 A day without a Mets win and a Braves loss is like a day without sunshine.Even in Spring Training.Y'think its too early to start one of those double happiness threads?Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I heard two smart ass local NY News sports reporters last night start the sports segment with " hey the NY Mets are 1 and 0" to much guffaws from the news presenters.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I caught a couple of innings on TV yesterday, but didn't realize until just now that the Mets are wearing their real caps and uniforms? Is that something new this year? I know that in past years that they've worn spring training caps and jerseys for Grapefruit League games but I don't recall if that's been the case for the last couple of springs.

When the anchor asked "What was the Mets score?", he said "Did they play? I'll have to find out for you".Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Just checked Russ Adams' numbers.http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/adamsru01.shtmlHe was a first round draft pick of the Jays, then injuries hampered his progress. Then I noticed his #1 comparison player - Pumpsie Green. And the memories came flashing back......Later
