This is pretty sweet. If it were any other team smacking these MFY punks around, I'd be giddy. Now I'm just ...satisfied.

Even when Jeter is doing NOTHING, they still go on and on about his greatness.

Cliff Lee looks like Cy Young tonight...and he's flashed the leather a couple of times. Pedro in MFYSIII tomorrow night should be fun.[/quote:4gre9l60]

That worries me, you remember his last outing against this team?

Which, incidentally, I forget which bloated and pompous Mike show it was, but it was said that many Yankees on the team don't have that "intensity" to get Pedro because they weren't there in 2003. Never mind that Pedro HAD pitched against them just last year. So while the "era" that that moment was a part of may be long gone, its not like he hasn't pitched against the Yankees since 2003.

BTW, gotta love the empty seats at NMFYS. Down 5 runs and the place is looking and sounding like a July evening!

Having two patches on the MFY caps is ridiculous.

I think I'm adopting Brian Bruney as my new Jay Witasick --- a living, breathing symbol that everything that you wanted to go wrong for the Yankees has happened. The new Surrender Boy.

Can we call him Frenchy, too?

NMFY Stadium is pretty when it's quiet, isn't it?[/quote:108qheht]

As I said, its like watching a game in July, against the Royals!

I'm impressed with all the empty seats.

Geez, had this be in RMFY (AKA MFYII) the place would have fucking erupted on those back-to-back singles.

Is this the Bronx, or is this Turner Field?

Those fans who've stuck around are hoping for a rally. I like seeing empty seats at MFYSIII during the World Series.[/quote:1kyfobud]

Especially the front row! I've heard the excuse on another board that the fans might be in the clubs.

Oh, I guess the ARod bashers will be back in full force for the next 20 hours or so!

Speaking of over-used "excuses" for bad play, nice to see another example of "they had TOO MUCH REST" get shot down. You KNOW Philly Phans would be chomping at the bit to use that as an excuse (just about every team smoked after a layoff has) if the Yanks had won.

Lee was a master out there, that was fun to watch....[/quote:3lbw3m0g]

Nasty, nasty man, that Clifford Lee.

Well, it's a nice satisfying win to keep me happy during the two-week break heading into game two.

Glad I went to watch that in a bar. Lee was freakin awesome and the most enjoyable part was listening to all the yankee fans groan and moan.

Revelation of the evening: When Shane Victorino was sent to unnecessarily attempt to score in the ninth (presumably by Razor Shines) and there was a collision at the plate, my first instinct was to hope he had jarred the ball loose from Posada and that Victorino's head would come off in the process. "No," I reconsidered. "I need that little bastard to stay intact and be who he is for the next four to six games after tonight. He can always accidentally remove his head while sanding his deck in the offseason."

I'm so used to seeing those gray Phillies uniforms wreaking havoc that somehow I felt proprietary toward the players in them. Not in a "those are my guys!" way but more like, "hey, I know those loathsome thugs...those are our loathsome thugs!" But this is strictly business. By now in past postseasons I would have latched on to somebody's storyline, provisionally adopting a team or a few of its players enough to be rooting for them or maybe their fans. I didn't feel that at all about the Phillies (let alone their fans). I just wanted them to do the job that needed to be done. And they did it. They need to keep doing it.

Cliff Lee's all right, however.

That Victorino play was a hell of a collison..until I saw the replay, barely a scratch

To the nobody in the seaters..The sight of Alec Baldwin gave me chills!

Joanna Molloy whoever she is says it's OK to now like Rodriguez

A-Rod has gone from bad boy and playoff choker to New York Yankees hero kids can idolize

All is forgiven when you hit.....she won't have been pleased with the three strike outs last night...

That article is a repurposing of a Yankee press release and it's disgusting.

The Snooze insidiously tries to keep its Sports guys "objective" but at the same time sets its "News" reporters and columnists free to fill up Pages 1-5 with fluff pieces and Malloy's awful series of "Hey Philly! You Suck!" provocations.
