I tried to investigate a wedding at Shea. Their events office wouldn't return my calls.

By the way, anybody here work in event planning? If so, hit me at edgydc[at]yahoo[dot]com.

My wife looked into the Bar Mitzvah.

They didn't return our calls either. Turned out we knew someone who knew someone who worked in the event planning dept. at Citi and finally found out it was too expensive.

Word is that Jeff Wilpon's kid didn't even have it there. Supposedly his was at either the Greenwich YMCA or Boys and Girls Club. Can't remember which but it was one of those.

Not returning calls? , maybe that was part of Tony Bernazard's job and they haven't filled it yet. Who better to organize an event that Tony B.

There will be football at CitiField apparently. The New York Sentinels of the UFL will play one of their three home games (the other two are at Giants Stadium and UConn) there on November 4. No word on whether Shake Shack will be opened for the festivities.

Oh sure, NOW they offer Bar Mitzvahs...[/quote:glsue9d7]

LOL - I wouldn't have done it.

We wouldn't have had that great cheese bread. We probably would have had to settle for leftover pretzels instead....

The UFL game was moved from CF to Hofstra.

During an event at CF, does the waiter pull a hammy?

Shake shack appetizers.... I'm sure Mr. Met would have been available....

My cousin had his a few years back at Camden Yards, in the big brick building behind the right field wall on the other side of Eutaw Street. It included a tour of the baseball field, dugouts, etc (it was during the offseason). The Oriole mascot also made an appearance.

It was cool.

We also had a timing issue. Citi Field was a bit busy this past August 22nd....

I will be attending an actual Citi Field Bar Mitzvah in a few weeks and will report back.

Don't write on the walls! Not even Doc can do that!

I understand that the way Citi Field is configured for Bar Mitzvahs, you can see only seven of the Ten Commandments clearly.

A Wilpon Bar Mitzvah at a YMCA?
That's hard for me to get my head around for more than one reason.

Just returned from a Citi Field Bar Mitzvah (kid turned 13, not the place). Mrs. Fafif and I were invited by a young man who read my book and mysteriously identifies with me. We accepted not only from gratitude for the nice note he sent but out of curiosity for what it's like to be at the ballpark in mid-November.

It's weird. That's not a reflection on the kid, his family or the affair, all of whom and which were wonderful. Just weird being inside a place I got to know pretty well in warmer if more frustrating times. I thought seeing a ballpark in what is essentially winter would be good for the soul. It felt eerie mostly. I can report the bullpens have been dug up to solve (or perhaps make worse) the can't-see problem the visiting relief corps had in 2009. The affair was held in the Acela Club which is a very nice if Met-free space. Kid got his picture on two of the three DiamondVision boards as well as the high-def screens inside. His video also appeared there, which alone would have to be a highlight of any young (or old) life. Mr. Met made an appearance. He's a pro in the best sense of the word. No Shake Shack, but some fine food, including falafels, deli and helmet sundaes. Game Six served as video wallpaper. I still fill with dread watching Dave Henderson homer.

Mets staff remains Mets staff. We showed up a half-hour early. Most of the guests were coming from Connecticut after temple. So we were the first ones and security would not let us in the building despite the wind and spritzing rain. The family paid for 1:30 so nobody was getting let in 'til 1:30. I'm surprised somebody didn't search my bag.

Found myself chatting with a Phillies fan friend of the family. Seemed to like being beaten by the MFYs more than a Mets fan expressing a little empathy his way. I retract any goodwill I showed him while noshing.
