MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 According to an article in the NY Post,http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/backpage/gammons_jeff_wilpon_real_mets_gm_vNz2jNAkbByLyS1HTrMgQNPeter Gammons says that Jeff Wilpon is the REAL GM of the Mets, and Omar is just there to "take the heat".Thoughts about Gammons' assertion? bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I just listened to the podcast of Gammons' appearance. As much as I like Gammons, he has consistently been a Minaya apologist. If Minaya wants us to believe that he's only the GM on paper, then it will make it easier for him to have an excuse and get a new job down the road.(A non-Mets story was when Gammons said that Joe Torre's life with the Dodgers was a "living hell", even worse than with the MFYs, and that "a lot" will come out about this.)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I think people will cling to their scapegoats, but no GM could have saved the Mets this year.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 That's an expression that would make Dick Cheney proud.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Steve Phillips put Gammons up to it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 He could have been cast in "Caddyshack"
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Me, I think I've seen it enough. It's sort of begging for photoshop enhancements, though, no?

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Maybe some day the Wilpons will be wealthy enough to get their hair cut from the guy who cuts this guy's hair:

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 I have some stories about Al Davis that I'm saving for when he passes to the big Super Bowl in the sky. From that picture, it doesn't look like it will be too long, although I hope I'm wrong. He's the best Commisioner Pro football ever had.Later
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 That Trump photo is incredible. Are his minions so fearful that not one of them has the stones to say, "Boss, the combover just isn't working." Or has it become his trademark and he really can't lose it at this point?
