The starting leftfielder for your 2010 New York Mets.

Can they replace the inaugural patch with a Red Cross patch?

Well, hey-- meltdown averted.

With a 400-foot out to the deepest part of the park, but still.

Four hits, two runs, two innings?

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Did Pelfrey just pull up crossing first? Looked like a calf. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, wrong!

GUH.

After giving in to Cody Ross, he walks both the 7th and 8th hitter. The pitcher, mercifully, grounds out to end the inning. All with two outs... while Pelf pitched from the stretch.

Helpful hint from a relative layman: if you aren't very good at working from the stretch, DON'T WORK FROM THE STRETCH WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO SO.

Oh now I'm going to cry , what with Kase and the Buckhardt story about Tatis I'm slobbering.

What's the story. I'm getting the Marlins feed on MLB Extra Innings.

Nice relay from Sullivan to nab an overly-frisky Uggla at second, stretching a single.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Aug 26 2009 06:47 PM

BOOM. Upper-decker breaks the tie.

But, to be fair, that's what happens when you leave it up to the #8 hitting, sub-.400 slugging catcher. You get PUNISHED.

Muffy with the leadoff double-- or as we say in Metland, "Flushing Dinger"-- sets things up for Francoeur.

A "productive strikeout"-- wild pitch-- advances Muff to third with one out. I hope he brought a book.

EDIT: Well, F me, then.

KEITH, APROPOS OF NOTHING: "Josh Johnson can tow my plow anytime."

Check off "homoerotic praise of an opponent from Mex" on your bingo board, kids, and take a shot.

One out gotten, Ramirez given the free pass to set up a DP.

And on a 3-1 count, Cantu swings hard... and grounds to Tatis, who throws to Castillo, who turns... it to sh*t, with Murphy's help.

1-2-3 for the Mets in the top of the 8th.

This Matt Lindstrom fellow is quite good. Live fastball, sharp slider... where the heck do the Fish get guys like this?

Up for the Mets in the 8th... Takahashi-Maru. (The no-win bullpen scenario.)

That must be like watching a retrospective of the Mets 2009 season.
