nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I see its Ugly Jersey Day in San Diego.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 STERLING Willie MaysTM catch from Pagan on Everth "Devastator" Cabrera.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Mild friskiness from the Met O, as singles from Frenchy, Andy Hernandy and Johan produce a run and two LOB.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 IGT AD: Coming soon to The WB11 - Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 How much must it sting to be batted eighth in either of these lineups?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Nice little ~ 20 minute umpire-gets-his-bell-rung delay as Randy Marsh took one off the chin with the best of them. I mean, the mic'd version soundedjust nasty.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 It did sound nasty...The last 20 minutes just cemented a thought I've had for a while - I would tune in to listen to Gary and Ron (and Keith) just shoot the breeze about baseball even if there wasn't a game on.It's the fact that as good as Ron is, Gary is just one of us. I loved the story he told about keeping score until the 25th inning as Hank Webb threw a pick-off throw away, and Bake McBride scored from first....
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Again, I can't escape the fact that his name is Randy Marsh.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 You don't mess around with Jo.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Oscar Salazar gives us our first break in about a week.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 dgw: It's the fact that as good as Ron is, Gary is just one of us <<<Just when they were finishing up that story KB walked into the room and I had a big stupid grin on and she said, "what?""Ah, nothing ... just listenin' and grinnin'."
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 "The category is... umpires who are terrible at their jobs."_NGEL HERN_NDEZ"Well, I know the answer, but... I don't think I should say it."
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Johan's probably demanding to go the whole game, and I can't blame him.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Come on, complete game. (With 1st and 2nd occupied, David Wright could help by killing the save opportunity.)
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Apparently, Southern California Marines also leave games early.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 So we've got (at least) a 4 run lead and a half-inning to go and Frankie warming up.So what are our odds of pulling this one out? 30% I figure, maybe 40%.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Was Johan over 100 pitches or something? You'd think he'd be demanding to stay in there, considering recent history.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 See, that wasn't so hard was it Frankie boy?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Apologies to Frankie. He got the job done.
