Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 WOW. No replay yet but figured Castillo to be a dead duck there.OE: Replay shows, ump fucked up. But it's cool.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 it looks to me like the ump missed that one, Castillo was a dead duck at the plate.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Nice game! Omar should call out writers more often if it makes then play like this.Tomorrow he should hold a press conference to say Jon Heyman begged to be bat boy and Joel Sherman was caught writing on the wall of the Ebbets Club!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Not only was Castillo out but that was a bad send by Razor w/0 outs even if he was really safe.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Mets win.Five and one half games within the wild card. Fourth straight win. Shit's getting crazy!
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Winning streaks are funner than losing streaks.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 We just keep getting this season turned right round...
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Go out for a quick dinner and a movie with the wife (finally saw Hangover and it was very funny) and the Muts in another stunner. Thankfully there were only a dozen folks in the theatre and no one saw me refreshing the Gamecast on the blackberry. Let's go Mets.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Stop, young Will Robinson. Danger! Danger! Danger!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Well, a couple big plays and some excellent pitching helped cover up a multitude of baserunning sins (2 caught stealings, Cora out stretching at 2nd, Castillo safe on a bad send/bad call).I thought the last three were made of stronger stuff, but this is plenty SHaMy for me.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Clean defense has been a silent difference maker over the course of the mini-streak.I mean, winnng with Daniel Murphy batting cleanup? How about that?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Fun times at Shea. Hat tip to G-Fafif for a good time at the chance meeting over pregame dinner. Murphy flashing the leather was fun. Got an extra ovation from the crowd who I think were genuinely surprised to see Murphy make such a good play. Was also nice to see that Pelfrey apparently has now learned how to cover first base.Baserunning errors drove me a little mad but what was really the worst was Pelfrey's ridiculous dawdling he was doing before each big pitch. Wanted Wright to go over and yell at him again to cut it out and just pitch. (He should watch a Mark Buehrle start).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 You know, I think you're on to something there. You've got a big guy with a lot of stamina pounding the lower half of the strike zone with a heavy sinking four-seamer, consistently hitting 95, but not getting a lot of strikeouts. Guys are able to foul it off, but it can't be pleasant, and maybe he shouldn't be giving them time to recover.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I don't often believe radar guns, but this seemed to be the hardest Pelfrey was throwing all year if you believe Burkhardt and the booth. Remember when his college coach came on a few starts ago and wondered where his velocity went? maybe he found it. this outing was nice in terms of results, but there were too many baserunners to make me feel that Pelfrey has suddenly turned a corner.
