Tis no wonder the triple A affiliates of recent years haven't been pleased with the Mets , what a lineup.

if you pulled Wright one could honestly believe this was Buffalo's lineup.

I get it ... I'm slow ... a lot of sun and a few suds today ...

Sheffield to the DL. So the Mets go a week playing a man short and then DL the guy anyway.

Adam Rubin:
Sheffield didn't seem pleased about the decision.
"Y'all talk to them about that," he said.

More important apparently to DL Sheffield than to lose Redding.

I'm feeling a whole lot of hostility in your posts lately Jeff.

I've given up wondering or questioning how the Mets go about DLing players.

I don't want to be Mr. Negative so I've refrained from commenting even more, but since you asked, I wouldn't say "Hostile." "Angry", definitely.

The team sucks, ownership is a joke and the front office is an embarrasment. Have I missed anybody? Plus, the thought of the post-season is gone and it's not even August. (Still love them despite all of the above.)

BTW, this tweet just came in:

NYPost_Mets Sheffield does not appear happy about his DL trip. He and Manuel are in left field right now, and Sheff's arms have been waving. #Mets

Burkhardt tweeted the same information.

I'm disappointed. Not angry or whatever. These seasons happen.
Going on and on about ownership or GM's or whatever with like ten guys and many
of them starters on the shelf just sounds like sour grapes from years gone past projected
into losing games like last night.
Some Mets fans aren't happy. Ever.
Vent here, vent wherever, but I think the blame is misplaced in this case.

Of course if we're going to wait for Sheffield to be happy about something we better bring a book and a couple of sandwiches because we're going to be on that line for a while.

Not me. I've been very happy. E.g., I was at the Omir Santos game and floated (not literally) out of Fenway. Just not happy now. The players are doing the best they can. (It's not Daniel Murphy's fault he's batting cleanup when he probably should be in AAA.)

Sure, but when you say things like ...

"ownership is a joke and the front office is an embarrasment"

... it makes it sound like this patchwork lineup is not the fault of injury for the
most part. I just don't get the outrage over this season. Not here so much, this
place is pretty even keeled .... but there are other venues where it's off the charts.

Keith Hernandez gave us a nice little tidbit about our favorite douchebag, Roger "Roid Rocket" Clemens, who apparently went to the clubhouse to shave after he finished pitching in Game 6 so as to look good for the celebration, Keith said it got the Mets fired up. Personally I buy that players could NEED "firing up" to win a World Series game, but Clemens is still a douchebag.

walks kill. come on Niese, bounce back next inning and don't give up free passes

What drives me nuts is that this team could be perfect underdog, easy to get behind, fighting through the adversity etc etc but they just haven't struggled all that admirably.

I've noticed that I haven;t yet chosen a backup team to keep things interesting, like I did in 07 with the Rockies, so to me there's still some wild far-off hope.

That's just it. There's nothing endearing about them at all.

I have to agree.
With both.

Very disappointed in this season.
But I understand that the team has been riddled with injuries and our depth is not enough to overcome it, up to this point.

We could/should be feared to get back into this thing if we get some key pieces back on the field, underdogs...
and I want to feel this, but I don't think the team feels it.
I just don't see it.
But until the math tells me we are done I always have hope.
Thats what faith in a team is all about.

We watch and root, it's what we do.

Francoeur hits a 3-run bomb down the line, its had the distance all the way it was just a question of fair or foul.

The Mets have now scored their allotment of 7 runs for the weekend.

oooh, this is sweet to see.
Castillo makes it 9-1 with a line drive RBI single.
