Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Loney walk leaves the bases drunk... for Martin, again.Perhaps if Stokes can get this right, the fates will reverse history, and the 2 runs will never have happened. (Like "Quantum Leap," but with less offense.)
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Wow, that'll leave a mark! Drill a couple more while you're at it.

Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Fucking Jerry just seems like a bystander tonight. I like how Ron declared it a blowout at 10-2. I think that could have been called at 4-0.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Gary and Ron seem to think the alternative is to talk about Mattingly.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Chan Ho Park sucks horribly in the rotation, goes to middle-relief limbo. He concentrates on keeping mistakes down, and ends up being a lights-out, multi-inning middle-reliever, helping solidify a shaky Philly pen.Tim Redding sucks horribly in the rotation, goes to middle-relief limbo. Now he's suckiness concentrate, one inning of mistakes down at a time.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Wonderful to hear about the great chemistry in the dugout. Now win some fucking games, damnit.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Nick playing the no doubles defense at 11-2. Nice!

I know there are hours of blowout to fill, but what an odd digression. "Better chemistry than Mets teams with better records." One infers that not only is team chemistry overrated, it's something you don't want.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 That was fucking awful.Great to meet Triple D. Sorry I won't be around to see everyone else on Sunday afternoon but was nice to meet our Australian correspondent.True story: Walk down to the Caesar's Club level where the usher demands my ticket. He tells me my section is upstairs and I say "yeah, I know. I came down to say hi to a friend in section 330." Has no response and lets my by. Worth remembering this for the future.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Yesterday just for fun my brother and I stopped in the Promenade Club which our tickets don;t allow us. The chick at the door asked to see the tix and lets us in. I remark at that point that I'd been denied entry with the same tickets before and she basically admits she didn't look real hard at our tickets anyway, and that we're not supposed to be there but have fun anyway. She was kinda cute.

Marquis is a NYker and I'm sure would rather have pitched in NY than Colorado but our genius GM went after Redding instead.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 I'm pretty sure Jason Marquis was traded from the Cubs to the Rockies.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 From Wikipedia:On January 6, 2009, Marquis was traded to the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Luis Vizcano. General Manager Dan O'Dowd said "We like (Marquis') athleticism, age and durability."You are correct. Of course, our GM could have traded for him.

Then the Mariners thing happened.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 I thought this was interesting about him]On September 26, 2008, the Cubs post-season roster was announced, and Marquis was granted a roster spot as a reliever. Marquis thereby reached the playoffs in all nine of his major league seasons through 2008.. He made one appearance against the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series, when he pitched the top of the ninth inning. In it he gave up a solo home run to Russell Martin for the Dodgers' seventh and final run of the game -- one they'd win by a final score of 7-2
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
