So I bought my tickets from Fred who has four season tickets in the Promenade . My brother-in-law has been to several games with Fred this season and with us yesterday. We go to our seats and after taking it all in for a while he says lets go eat. We go to the Promenade Club , he's been there every time he has gone with Fred this season. Go to Club door and first thing I notice is that it's just about empty.....girl at door asks for tiks and says sorry but you can't come in. Bro-in-law says he got in every other time and the Hostess who was very nice tells him that due to a policy change this week Promenade ticket holders now need to pay to gain entrance.

I didn't ask for details on how much or anything but I'm sure this will be news to Fred.

I'll have to get my overpriced salad at another place....

But WTF? Why are they so comfortable pissing people off this way?

You don't fuck with Fred.

See, they call it that because you have to promenade around the entrance, square-dance style, while wondering why your favorite team's ownership hates you.

Originally, access to the Promenade Club was supposed to be reserved for "Promenade Club" ticketholders, people who had the seats in sections 406-423.

Then, Jeff Wilpon and Kevin Burkhardt do an SNY special on Citi Field where it's strongly implied that anyone on the Promenade Level (whether your seats were "Club" "Box" or "Reserved") would have access.

On opening night, it's just the "club" holders who are being allowed in.

On the second homestand, it becomes clear that the club is being under-utilized, and access restrictions were lifted and anybody could just stroll in.

Now this? Strange.

My impression is that the employees aren't all on the same page and walking is as if you know what you're doing/sneaking by when the usher isn't looking/etc. will still be an effective way of gaining access.
