Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Hey, Metsblog posted an item saying the Mets asked about all kinds of things, and even posted a photo of a potential vest-lookin uniform.Did anyone get this? Can you tell us what else is in there? Here's the item:The Mets just sent out an online survey via e-mail to a select group of fans, which asks a variety of questions about the current uniform scheme, including, Which Mets game jersey is your favorite, Do you think the Mets should wear the pinstripes jersey more often, and, Why do you think the Mets should not keep the black jersey? The also asks for feedback on a verity of jersey combinations, from the current black and blues to the all whites, from the traditional pinstripes to a new sleeveless version with a large NY on the chest. The 1986 Racing Stripes were not featured in any selection. The final question asks if the Mets should name the bridge in Citi Field, with options such as Amazin Alley, Caseys Crossing, Gil Hodges Bridge, Piazza Path and others.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I do get e-mails from the Mets (I'm sure most of us do) but I haven't received this one.Why do you think the Mets should not keep the black jersey? That's kind of a leading question, assuming that most fans don't like the black. I'd be very surprised if the Mets phrased a question that way, but if they actually did, that's a good sign.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Any questions about the fugly pizza patch?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I've been slowly getting off the MLB / Mets mailing list. I think you have to unsubscribe to about 30 different things (ok, maybe I'm exagerating) butit got really annoying getting two or three emails a day from each. I didn'tget this one.Is metsblog the Cerrone guy who gets face time and ads on SNY?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 It should be noted that they show three hat choices... the 3 they currently wear. Note the orange button.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I think they should do away with blue and orange and just have black be the team color. Light black for the home uniforms and dark black for the away uniforms. Also, the NY symbol should be black so you can't really see it unless you look closely. That would be so cool.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 MLB is getting too carried away with all the black uniforms. The other day, the Mets were wearing black jerseys and hats with white pants while the visiting Braves were wearing road gray pants with black jerseys and hats. It looked like an intrasquad game with all the black.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 You know, if they want a black hat why don't they just wear these...?Seriously, why not?The Nationals wear the same cap the Senators did.And they could also wear jersies that looked similar to these...At least the black and orange don't look half-bad together without the blue in there making everybody nauseous.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Without blue it's not Mets, it Orioles for one thing ... the mix of blue, orangeand black doesn't make me sick. Gimme pinstripes and blue caps on everySunday afternoon and I don't really care what they wear the other six daysof the week. This is a January discussion anyways.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Good find! Some of those proposed uniforms are pretty ugly. They seem to be considering reverting the home uniforms to their earlier, off-white color. I'd like to see that. I hadn't even noticed the change until "Shea Good-bye" when the 69ers had a noticeably different jersey color than the 86ers.Here's what I posted in the comments section:I understand the desire for alternate jerseys for merchandising purposes, but please limit the black as much as possible, preferably to road games. Home teams should wear white. Let's see the all-blue cap in road games sometimes too. The black cap with the blue brim isn't too bad. I wouldn't object if it survived as an occasional alternate. The all black cap is awful. I'd love to see it eliminated. I haven't been to Citi Field yet. (I'll make my first visit later this month.) I've heard, though, that it doesn't do enough to honor club history. If that's in fact true, I hope it gets rectified.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I voted for Gil Hodges, although I believe there's already a bridge named for him in Brooklyn.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Remember to click the link on the final page that says "click here to submit." I almost missed it.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 OK, what's the difference between the two pinstripe choices?OE: i guess the one on the right is an off-white?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Survey completed. Glad to have a chance to put my .02 in.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks for posting the survey, LWFS. Very cathartic if nothing else.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Vote early and often! Ditch the black!
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I said to ditch the black, put the "new york" script on away unis, lose the orange dot, no NY on the chest (another New York team already does that).
Mex17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Did this ever go anywhere with regard to them changing the unis for next year?I say this. . .1) Snow Whites with blue trim and black outlines2) Off-White Pinstripes with no black outlines and no player surname on back3) Blue Alternate with white lettering/orange trim and outlines4) Road Grays with blue trim and black outlinesBlue hats only with all.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Adam Rubin reports today that for 2010 the Mets will switch their pinstriped uniforms to an off-white "retro" look. The solid whites will remain bright white.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Some uncertainty still over whether these creamies will retain black dropshadows around the numbers etc. Paul Lukas is pretty adamant saying they will. I'm not so sure.I'd also be surprised if there aren't more changes to come. They seem to want to whack the piping around the plackets on the home whites. They also seem determined for an "alternative" alternative, like those weird ones they asked about this spring.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 While initially favoring a move to cream, not sure how I feel about them now after seeing this photo in contrast to the white; But if they do go that way, I hope they drop the black dropshadow.Btw, is "24" Art Shamsky?
