Road Unis?

Not to get all SJR on everyone but I just perused last night's IGT and didn't see that anyone mentioned it, but what was the deal with the uniform's last night?

When the Mets don't wear their greys on the road, don't they wear the black tops that say 'New York'? Last night was the black 'Mets' tops.

Also I thought that the Citi Field logo that was on the caps last night was only supposed to be worn when at home. It doesn't really make sense on the road does it?

Made me think that the equipment manager's staff screwed up and packed the wrong shit.

Well, the Citi cap logos were in Cincy and Miami, so it looks like that's a road as well as home thing. Not that it makes much sense.

I can't ever remember the Mets wearing the team name on the road, though.

I've seen "Mets" on the road before. I don't particularly like it, but every step's a new disappointment with uni-watching this team.

Yes, they officially junked the black road NEW YORKs and just use the black METS for all occasions. Did the uni have the new stadium patch? I don't remember.

They've been wearing the silly cap-patch all year.

Well I'm not happy about 'Mets' on the road instead of 'New York' but I guess on the positive side if they've scrapped that one then its one less black uniform.

I didn't see any Citi Field patch on the shoulder - I think I would have noticed that.

With the black NEW YORK retired, the black METS made its first road appearance since 1998, the only year post-1986 when the Mets didn't wear NEW YORK every road game. (Except for Tom Wilson and Jose Parra accidentally wearing the wrong ones at MFYS II in '04).

They don't wear the Citi uni patch on the road. They wear the alternate Citi patch on the caps all the time.

="Benjamin Grimm":2uahya2m]Do they still have a grey road jersey? And if so, does that say Mets or NEW YORK?

I was out of town and missed the entire season-opening road trip.[/quote:2uahya2m]

Yes. That's all they wore the first trip.

I am mostly indifferent on the color schemes -- I don't loathe the black hats and jerseys the way some do. I still prefer home whites/pinstripes, and road grays, but whatever.

It actually bothers me more to see them wearing "Mets" on the road instead of the "New York" in the traditional font. I liked the continuity of that - that they wore the city's name when they weren't in NY and "Mets" at home, regardless of colors.

Ah well.

I will also confess that I didn't notice it during play last night.
