Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Having Johan on the mound when you want to break a losing streak is nice. When you want to extend a seven-game winning streak, it's even nicer.

Forget what section, though (no plan-- we went a la carte on Stubhub and Ebay-- and she's got the stubs.NOTE: This is Round 5 at the new place for me, and the third go with Senor Frisbee-- Livan's like a cold I can't shake.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 This will be my first time with Livan. So far I've seen Johan, Ollie, Maine, Pelfrey and Figueroa. When I go back on Sunday, it'll likely be the first time I see a Mets starter for the second time (absent something totally unexpected).Promenade 527, weather permitting.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 It turns out I have one extra Promenade ticket for tonight. If anyone who knows me wants it, it's yours for the price of a beer - just e-mail me (I don't check the CPF from my phone, but I do check my e-mail and Facebook from it).
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks to some CPF generosity, I have made arrangements to attend the Thursday June 25th matinee against the Cards. I will be taking Fboy along. My plan right now is to not tell him until that morning, then wake him up, put his hat and jersey on and drive down to the game. Should be a nice surprise for him.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It's great when you can pull off that kind of surprise - have fun

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hey, I'm gonna be there tonight, plus having Happy Hour at the former Bobby Vee's restuarant hotel thingy while Silverman tries to sell the remaining mbtn stock. Plus he has the new Hernandez book.Stop by if you're going. Be there at 5:30ish
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 The southern contingent will be heading north for their maiden voyage to Citi Field in July. I purchased two tickets for the Sunday, July 12th against the Reds. My friend, the newly converted Met fan, and I will be in Section 426 Row 4. Hope to get together with as many CPF members as possible to share a beer and some conversation.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Today is the first Saturday home game since October 5, 1985 that I do not have tickets to, thanks to the new configuration of the 'Saturday' plan (10 Saturdays, 5 weeknights). Today's game is not part of the Saturday plan.I don't mind, as I like the odd night game, but it will be a bit unusual to watch a Saturday home game from home.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Any CPF'ers in Pittsburgh?I am seriously considering taking a half day on Wednesday and driving Fboy and I out there for the series finale. It's only a five hour trip from the Cuse and he can sleep on the way home...Plus it looks like plenty of good seats available.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 No trip to Pittsburgh for us. Timing isn't good, maybe next year.I will be at Sunday's Nats/Mets tilt in DC courtsey of my cousin, with Fwife and I joining her and her husband.Edgy are we going to meet up for a beer at some point?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I actually made my first visit to Citi Field this past Sunday. I had gone back and forth about it, fearing bad weather and not liking the ticket prices I was seeing. But we got last minute tickets on StubHub at a good price: $25 per seat for Promenade tickets above the infield. (Section 509, for those of you who already know Citi Field.)Nice place. There's an outdoor food court on the roof of the rotunda. My son and I got turkey and mozzarella heroes from Mama's of Corona. (I love being in New York and not having to call them "hoagies!") The business about being able to watch the game while you're at the concession stand wasn't as good as advertised. (Unless you count the SNY feed playing on the TV monitors.) For some strange reason, you can't buy ice cream on the 300 level. It's only (at least as far as I could tell) on Field Level, where the lines were ridiculous, or on 400, where only the prices are ridiculous. We posed for pictures in front of the Shea apple. That's also where the "flags" for the Mets past titles (including the NLCS losses) are displayed. They look like they're printed on bent cardboard. There's an unsightly crease about two thirds of the way down each of the flags. It's like the cardboard signs got accidentally folded at some point. I'm sure they're on corrugated steel or something instead of cardboard, but geez, they sure don't look too good from close up.We entered through the Jackie Robinson rotunda. I felt like I was in a famous place, because I had seen the sketches, and later, the photos, for so long, but I wasn't at all tempted to linger. I caught the silly blue 42 out of the corner of my eye. My daughter wants to check it out next time we go, so I'm sure we will. The kids participated in the Mr. Met Dash after the game, so we got to re-enter the stadium through the bullpen gate and walked past the actual bullpens as we went out onto the field. They then had us exit through a tunnel on the third base side. (I think that's the tunnel from whence umpires emerge twirling their fingers after home runs.)
