Seriously.

I still prefer Dunn, who could theoretically slide to 1B after Delgado's contract expires in '010. But is Omar too busy playing footsies with starting pitchers to get us some batting help?

I believe he turned down 2x$11 from the Phillies in favor of FA-gency and this reported 2x$8 deal.
Other FAs might want to take note of the trend of things to come.

Like most of the available outfielders, I think Burrell's glove would have hurt as much as his bat would have helped. But for the Rays, he's an excellent fit (as a DH) at an excellent price.

Burrell is a bargain at that price. The Rays made a nice signing.

Burrell was just the type of right handed power bat the Mets could have used to balance and beef up their line up. I'm just not sold on a possible LF platoon of Tatis and Murphy. I like both of them as bench help and spot starters, but I'm leery that the Mets will get adequate production from the tandum in left field.

The Mets already figure to get substandard offensive production from second base and catcher. It's hard to know which Ryan Church (pre- or post-concussion) will be manning right field and the same uncertainty also exists at first base. That's an awful lot of holes and question marks in the line up. I would have wlecomed Pat and his bat to thwe Mets for the bargain the Rays got.

Burrell's cheaper than expected price might mean that the BP piece I quoted from Will Caroll a week or so back is accurate. That's the one where he said (and also quoted Gammons as saying) that teams are crunching numbers in an attempt at taking a closer look a defense and calculating how much a bad glove negate whatever offense he gives you.
Plus we wouldn't have the luxury of DHing Burrell - something the Rays apparently intend on doing full time.

Meanwhile, Milton Bradley w/the Cubs for 3 years could be a risky move seeing as how he can't really play the field, at least not on an everyday basis (from what I read) not to mention his, ummm, shall we say interesting personality.
