Guest AG/DC Guests Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Press Notes from DC:This day in 1969, Donn Clendenon hit two in support of a Gary Gentry shutout of the Cardinals, and the Mets clinched the brand new National League East over... the Cubs!Zambrano vs. Perez tonight, kids. Come up big, Oliver.Mets have three of the top five RBI-ers in the National League.Jerry Manuel is now winning at .602 as a Met manager. I'll take that to my last day.Carlos Zambrano has been ridiculous this year, hitting .354 / .354 / .582 // .936. He nonetheless has yet to be started above the nine-hole in the lineup.David Wright is still my friend.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Press Notes from the loge boxes at Shea:Well, this is it - my last trip to Shea. No way I make it out of here without tearing up at least three or four more times.Watched BP from right over the dugout, then walked all the way up to Row V in section 46.Apparently, they've already removed the trophies and Mets HOF busts. WTF?Very emotional night for me. Huge thanks to my friend Ben The Yankee Fan for scoring the WPIX loge box tickets for tonight.
