Never would have thought that Don Baylor had as many steals as Lenny Dykstra.

Henderson's 1409 isn't usually talked about in the "unbreakable" records category the way 511, 2,632, 4,256 or 56 are.

But seeing how far away Jose Reyes (the most prolific base stealer in MLB for the past 5 years) is from Henderson, that record seems destined to last forever.

Without looking it up, I'd guess in part because JR's reaching base with more XBH's than last year, and also because he got some religion as to how reckless his PO's and CS's were at the beginning of the year and got more conservative. Generally as success rates decrease, so should attempts.
