metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Morgan said Hamels pinch hit against the Mets last week , I remember Myers doing it but not Hamels. That might only mean I have a crap memory.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 You know, you still see a lot of PIAZZA 31 shirts in the crowd.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 Jeter commercial at 9:40 est.No bets.No winners.

It was Myers they had not swing just so there was no chance he'd hit into a DP.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 "ON ITS WAY TO THE MOON!"(again!)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Give Morgan some credit here, he's all over this Hamels/Delgado battle.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Hamels should have tried the curve again. Delgado says this game is easy as he hits one further than his earlier bomb.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 I am jointly amazed and love the fact that there is Delgado MVP talk.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 WOW!!!! Now THAT'S a bomb!!!Was that the Jeter ad on SNY you guys are always talking about?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I'm not sure Delgado would hit Dorothy Hammels this hard!

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 That was a home run of extraordinary magnitude. It forged its spirit in the tradition of my ancestors. It has my gratitude.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 What was all that talk about Wagner pitching a simulated inning today and needing more time?Anyone have more details on that?

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 No, I was just being snarky. I have no idea.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Looks like Jon and Joe have the Pool up on one of their computers in the booth.13 pitches and "no more" for Wagner. Setback, perhaps? No mention of pain or anything more specific than that.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 That can't be good news. I suspect we won't see Wagner again, unless we get to the playoffs and he decides to pitch through the pain.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 Santana looks like he's forcing some pitches.Gets thru 7 We need more runs.I can't relax with only a 3 run lead.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Nice game, Johan.Good snare by Wright. Did you see how he tried to throw it in the stands and it went straight up?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 ]Setback could end Wagner's season09/07/2008 7:10 PM ETBy Anthony DiComo / MLB.comNEW YORK -- The game may have been simulated, but the results were quite real. And now the Mets must again cope with the notion that they may be without Billy Wagner for the rest of the regular season.Wagner cut short a simulated game Sunday afternoon after feeling discomfort in his left elbow, and will visit with a team doctor on Monday to determine his next step."We were hoping that he would be pain-free," general manager Omar Minaya said. "But after he threw his last pitch, he did feel some tenderness. Hopefully, we'll see what that means when he talks to the doctor."Scheduled to throw roughly 20 pitches between halves of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Wagner ended the session after throwing an errant breaking ball and feeling what Minaya described as "discomfort" in his left elbow.Wagner was unavailable for comment following the simulated game.On the disabled list since Aug. 5 with inflammation in his left elbow, Wagner played catch earlier Sunday morning and deemed himself fit for active duty -- barring a setback."I feel like I'm as good as I'm going to get," Wagner said before throwing the simulated game. "I'm sure the more I throw, the more the rust comes off, but I think they want to take it slow. They want to be able to make the best judgment for the team."This is the second time Wagner's rehab has been delayed in this manner, the first coming when tightness in his left arm marred a simulated game in Pittsburgh. Wagner had not attempted another simulated game in the interim, instead playing catch and throwing regular bullpen sessions. And now, with only three weeks remaining on the September schedule, another period of rest and rehabilitation could take Wagner to the end of the regular season."We're going to be conservative," Minaya said. "We've been conservative, and we'll continue to be conservative. He's been showing great signs, great progress. He's been throwing the ball pretty good."Yet now there's a possibility that he won't be throwing again for some time.

Hamels will now pitch from 30 feet away and the Mets bullpen will be required to conform to the pitching motion of a men's over-40 league.
