Where the heck did you pull that guys name from?, just curious.

I remember when he came up and led the Milwaukee Braves to the pennant. He hit over .400, and then was basically gone the next year.
I'm hoping Daniel Murphy doesn't have a similar career.

Murphy tried to lead last night. Unfortunately, no one followed.

I guess this is the official thread now?

1. It's still too close to call whether we get the game in tonight. The rain has stopped here in midtown for now, but the forecast still calls for a 90% chance of preciptation tonight. Whether we play is entirely dependent upon the pattern of the storm approaching from the south. It may well pass to the east of Queens and allow the game to get in. I think we play.

If we don't, we would almost certainly play a doubleheader on Saturday. The Mets would certainly prefer to do the game as a separate-admission DH, with the tickets from Friday night being valid for a game to be played probably at 7:10 or 7:40. To do this, they'll need a waiver from the player's union, as the CBA limits the number of day/night DHs that can be played per team, per season.

Playing a single-admission doubleheader on Saturday might be preferable for the players but would leave a *lot* of ticketholders from Friday's game angry, especially given that
1. They cannot exchange for a game this season, as Sunday is sold out and Saturday's is pretty well sold too
2. Despite stated policy, they cannot realistically exchange for a game next year, as the Mets don't know what ticket availability will be.
3. It'll be the last game at Shea for many.

Hence the separate admission doubleheader being extremely likely, IF we don't play tonight.

I predict we *do* play tonight (reserving the right to re-evaluate at 4 PM).

As a ticketholder for tonight, I hope they can make an announcement of a postponement as soon as possible.

I wouldn't count on that.

I would count on *exactly* the opposite. I suspect they'll wait as long as possible before calling it.

And, to be fair to the team, they really have to do that this weekend.
Too often in the reg season they fail to call games early on account of some vain hope of not losing a couple of bucks. In this case I'm not going to hang them for that.

An awful scenario is out there (forgive me) where the Mets could lose games one and two, the Brews and Phils sweep games one and two, and the final game at Shea could be rained out.

And it would be just as well, because they'll burn the place down on Saturday anyhow.

This is like the Chinese water torture.

Every drop that falls just enhances the anticipation and drives you mad.
