="Iubitul":2veh4ilu]I was looking at buying a pair - when I was a kid, our local state rep had a pair of seats from the original Yankee Stadium in his basement, and I always wanted to get a pair from Shea.

are you daring to suggest that the present yankee stadium is not the original?

Looks like the sale will be open to everybody (with priority to season ticket holders):

I called. They're only selling to full season and larger season plan holders right now. They'll get around to the smaller plan holders (like Sunday plan holders) eventually - they wouldn't give me a time frame.

I will say this - $869 a pair is high, but it does include shipping. We had to go down to the Vet to get those chairs, and they were pretty cumbersome to transport.

Check out the link, TMF.

They'll be offering it to plan holders starting on Monday, 8/18. You won't get your actual seats but it appears you can at least choose the color you want.

I should add that it's very much like the Mets to say they have "no information" only to be contradicted by their own website.

The missus and I were having this conversation the night before we learned of the plan. I said I could see buying one seat for like $350, with $500 the absolute upper limit of what I would spend in total (and I don't really have a discretionary seat fund at my fingertips). When we read the details, I'm like "forget it," but she's like "you'll regret it if you don't," and I'm like, "yeah, but who needs two?" Well, she said, we do. Where we gonna put two seats from Shea Stadium? I asked. Somewhere, she said.

I've created a well-meaning monster.

Of course you need two. Unless you're Archie Bunker, and you're the only one who's going to be allowed to sit on the good chair.

Cerrone cleverly reasons that the pricing was based on famous Mets years:

"i assume the established price is a combination of the numbers 86 and 69, as in 1986 and 1969, the two seasons during which the Mets won a World Seriesvery clever"

If the MFYs do that, they'll stick their dopey fans for $2,600.

Bad ass!

And you need to give Mrs. G-FAFIF and extra-special anniversary gift. My spouse is understanding ...but not that understanding.

No doubt. But if the G-F's were to invest in such a seating arrangement, it would constitute, by necessity, the sum of our mutual giftgiving for years to come.

Or we could just sit on our Shea seats out on the curb with the rest of our stuff.

I guess you won't be constructing a patio around them.

If they were upper deck, she'd have to install them on the roof.
