Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Frayed Knot - "* Jon Lester went all the way for the BoSox and a 7-0 shutout" Lester held the Yanks to 5 hits (4 singles and a double), with 8 K's and only 2 walks.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 From the 'Something you don't see everyday' file:With 2-on and 2-out, Kevin Youkilis drives one deep to left.Damon jumps up at the wall and seems to snag it, but the ball pops out of his glove and comes to a rest on top of the fence. After balancing up there on the shaking wall for 3 seconds or so, the ball rolls off on the field side almost landing on Damon's head as he lays crumpled on the warning track.Damon had no clue where it was until it fell. CFer Melky saw it balancing up there but was too far away do anything but yell and point.Youkilis wound up getting himself a 2-RBI triple out of it all while Damon gets an early exit and an MRI on his left shoulder.6-3 Boston thru 7, now in a rain delay

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 Game of the DayRockies, down 13-4 to the Marlins after 3-1/2 innings, score 1 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th, then 2 in the 9th to pull out an 18-17 squeaker. Two team totals: 35 runs, 43 hits, 8 HRs (6 by Colorado), 11 BBs Runs were scored in 12 of the 18 half-innings.The starters were responsible for 16 runs combined (but only 15 earned)8 Marlin pitchers were used - 7 for one inning or less. They faced 51 Colorado batters and recorded 24 outs.5 were charged with runs, 3 "earned" a 'Hold'.Closer Kevin Gregg faced 5 batters and retired none.6 Rockies pitchers were used - facing 56 Marlin hitters in order to log 27 outs with no one pitcher recording more than 6.Game Time = 3:59 ... or about that of a 3-2 Yanqui-Boston game
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 The BoSox let one get away today. They were losing 2-0 to the Yanx most of the game and had to face Mariano in the 9th.But Rivera started single - HBP - single - HBP ... so a run was in, the bases loaded, and no one outAnd then they promptly went K, Pop-out, K and lost 2-1A loss there would have really kicked the Yanx' butts.8 HBPs in that game to tie a MLB record -- and none of them even seemed intentional
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Veritek has become virtually worthless.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 Astros & Braves tied at 6 in the 16th (but without the rain delays)ARod ties Mantle at 536 HRs(but he's not a true Yanqui)

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Jamie Burke, Mariners backup C, proves he's no Brent Mayne, as he takes the loss, pitching in the 15th inning. How do you run out of pitchers in the AL? Bad planning, fellas.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Time for Seattle to fire the manager....oh wait, never mind.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Still the weekend to me.Kuroda of the Dodgers pitching a perfecto vs the Braves thu 7.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 A Texiera double is the only blemish for Kuroda as Atlanta goes down 3-0.Now, if only San Diego could come back at home against the Marlins... .
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You know, fuck you, Hiroki Kuroda. Fuck you in your fucking head. First Billy Fucking Wagner and Jon Fucking Papelbon blow my win last week, then I cut Kuroda Sunday afternoon to create space to bring Carlos Zambrano off the IR, and he fucking goes and does this. Fantasy baseball sucks.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Huge breach of ettiquette, but I like where it ended.
