Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Ha!Nice inning by Martinez.Strikes out 3 with a single squeezed in that I kinda think Castillo shoulda grabbed. But he wanted Pedro to K the side so Ill let it slide.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I'm still a little confused on how Castro could oversleep and be so late to the park. Does Castro stay in a seperate hotel from the remainder of the team or something?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Easley does it.Nice bloop hit and he hustles it into a double.Drive him in Dads

Does Castro stay in a seperate hotel from the remainder of the team or something? Many of these newer downtown ballparks the hotels are within walking distance and it's pretty much up to the players to get themselves there.Even when there is a team bus - like from Manhattan hotels out to Shea - it's not required that one be on it as long as you get to the park on time via some other method. Lots of players will cab or even subway themselves out there.I can imagine football coaches blowing a gasket at just the thought of players not taking a team-arranged transport.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Thanks Knot. I guess I just thought that when on the road, the team would travel over to the ballpark together. Petco Park is within easy walking distance from numerous hotels in San Diego.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I think Pedro's gettin his groove back.Gets 3 fly outs after a lead off single.Nice.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Reyes doubles to start off the fourth.Ya wanna wear commando? We brought some too ...http://www.kcmets.com/Ramones/commando.m4a
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Author Posted June 8, 2008 Also gone are the days of roommates in hotels on the road so you can't even rely on your buddy to wake you up if you over-drink ... I mean sleep.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Wright is swingin at shit and lettin some fat ones go by.Gotta be in a funk.Mets plate another as Reyes and Castillo come thru.5-3 US
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Whew.Giles almost hits a 3 run homer, but Endy forces it down at the warning track. So they get one back on a Gerut rbingle.Watch where you use that fastball Pedro. They are pwning it.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Delgado's almost sorta heating up.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Gotta wonder about Pedro's approach at the plate that last AB, I even wonderabout why he's up I guess. If he doesn't get through the sixth or barely throughthe seventh was it worth it - leaving two guys on and Reyes on deck?He ain't exactly got bat.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Couldnt getErDun.Still 5-4 mets.Ill give a lil 5th inning quiz:Whose the only player in MLB history to wear his birthday on his back?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Whew.Another 2 out drive to the wall.We are dodging bullets this afternoon.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 My initial thought was Eddie Gaedel, but after looking him up I see that he wasn't born on January 8th (1/8).

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Eh. It was like an infielder going for a popfly over his head good. Pretty good... not orgasmically so.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 The Show is up?Planning to use him alll four games, Willie? And Wagner nonce thus far?

So he wasn't going straight back like Mays. But the fact that it was in the gap and he had to get there, and the wall was so close...I dunno.Might top Willies classic catch.nah. No one on.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Or even CAPS and exclamation points so ... but nice.Mays?I'm getting grumpy, I smell a disappointing loss.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Wow. Looking forward to the Channel 11 60th anniversary bash. Perhaps they bring back TVPix
