Castillo batting with gum on his helmet.

Hey, Luis! Are trying to make me sick?!

There was some 3rd baseman drafted today in the 1st round (Brett Wallace - Cardinals) who was built like Heath Bell only with a bigger butt and legs.
The blog I was reading held out little hope that he'd stay a 3rd baseman.

I go to Wagner to face Gerut.

But I find Gerut tapping out to Duaner very fulfilling.

Nope. The 1-5-4-3 triple play ball turns into an accidental sacrifice by Gonzalez.

unfuckingbelievable. 3 walks and a hit by pitch to end the game. Schoenweis does not belong in a game except to get out a lefty in the middle innings. he is atrocious.

Terrible. Those are the games good teams win. You roll into these bad teams' stadiums, kick their ass and move on. You just don't walk the bleeping bases loaded and plunk in the winning run.

Ugh. Glad I fell asleep in the 8th.

I probably wouldn't have slept so well if I'd seen that ending.

He's been fine all year and was facing almost all LHBs in last night.
The inning didn't cause his bad pitching.

Not for nothing, but Pelfrey may still be tipping pitches. After Gonzalez smoked that liner that Endy snared, the SNY cameras caught him (Adrian) a minute later in the dugout talking with someone, and he showed the dude he was talking to two different arm angles and on one of them you could clearly see him mouth "fastball".

He saw something anyway.

I don't get what the rule is there.

Are you referring to the catcher-falling-into-the-dugout rule?

I had never heard of that one either. Clearly Schneider was aware of it, since he flipped that ball behind him as he was heading down the stairs.

Why would a runner advance to second base on a foul ball if the catcher falls into the dugout after a catch? Does he automatically get to tag up if the fielder is outside the field of play? If that's the case, why should it matter whether Schneider stumbled or trotted into the dugout?

I'm in my 38th year of watching baseball, and I'm still seeing stuff I've never seen before.

Yes.

I find the explanation (speculated by Cohen) that the rule is different for a catcher going into the dugout on his feet versus falling in to be silly beyond belief.
