soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 My brother-in-law has been a season ticket holder at Shea since 1962. His family is fairly wealthy and they have a company that generates quite a bit of cash. As a result they have season tickets to the Mets, Yanks, Rangers and Knicks. their seats at all the venues are excellent. Two rows behind the dugout at Yankee Stadium, 6 rows off the field at Shea, about 10 rows back from the court at Knicks games and right on the glass for Rangers games. Not surprisingly these seats are pricey. The seats at Shea have been between $85.00 - $100.00 per seat per game so I'm guessing the Yankee seats have been comparable. The email that he recently got from the Yankees about the prices at the new Yankee Stadium are just unbelievable though. If he wants the same seats in a similar location at the new place they will cost him $500.00 per seat per game. Yes - $500.00 per seat, per game.Kinda lets you see what's in store for Mets fans. Here's a copy of the email he got:]Dear Ticket License Holder,Today marks a very significant moment in the history of our legendary franchise. Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 One thing worse than being adressed in that manner about the Yankees is being addressed in that manner about the Yankees by Lonn Trost.

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Lonn Trost on the left:Lonn is the guy the Yanks roll out to say shit like, "You don't re-name the White House or the Grand Canyon."1) I'm sure the Yankees would if they could.2) The Grand Canyon was renamed. The Pueblos called it "Ongtupqa."
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 And the White House used to be called "The President's House."
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Crazy, so for one seat it will cost him $40.500 for 81 games, and he has how many seats?

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 You're right - 1 seat = $500.00 x 81 games = $40,500.00 per seat.4 seats = $2,000.00 per game = $162,500.00 for 81 games. He will pay it, or rather his company will, because well, they can. They are not too happy about it though.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 According to some radio discussions I was hearing the other day, a handful of NYY seats are going for 2,500/per.No, that's not a typo.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Desperate times (the stadium is already $500 million overbudget, with a year to go on construction) call for desperate measures, I guess.
