A hotshot French magazine editor suffers a stroke at the age of 42. Although he remains completely cognizant of the world around him, he is paralyzed and unable to do anything about said world except blink his left eye. Which he does. Frequently enough that he authors an entire book about his ordeal with nothing but his brains, a loyal transcriber, and that left eye.

It doesn't sound like much of a movie plot, but it works quite well.

It was way more watchable than I thought it would be. It was creative and effective.

I thought it was terrific. Very moving, funny at times. Great to look good. Good score. Highly recommended.

Saw this the other day, not nearly as bad as I was dreading. I was expecting some made for Lifetime personal tragedy story, but the voice-over is great and the first person POV worked for me.

I liked this too, especially in its warts-and-all reflection upon the guy's life, showing him vegged-out without overdoing the pity, and in all of his glorious ablebodied asshole-i-ness.
