Guest SI Metman Guests Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 This is the Mets 2008 schedule so far, 108 out of the 162 games that were released by other teams or inferred from news articles.schedule quirks: - Mets get extra road series in Colorado during interleague- based on Yankees and Mets schedules pieced together, May series and June series home field might finally swap- Mets do not have a day off after home opener, will probably open up on a Tuesday.- Texas makes first and last visit to Shea.- Mets will be traveling to the Mountain or Pacific time zone on 4 consecutive road trips but 0 times after the All Star Break-They may still open Washington's new ballpark on Sunday March 30th, so April 1 is not set in stone as Opening Day (although 90% of the teams open up on March 31st)* denotes unconfirmed but probable opponentTue April 1 @ Florida (Opening Day? bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 SI Metman--your work on this, year after year, is indispensable. The Mets are always one of the last teams to release their schedule so I really appreciate this effort. You should be given a Nobel Prize.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Thanks. Too bad about the interleague...was hoping the Mets would get a trip to Cleveland (haven't been since 2002) or Baltimore ('01) next year.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 It seems like we always get stuck with an extra NL series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Nine (or maybe 10?) days in a row to start the season?!?I don't think I've ever seen that before
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 IL play this coming season holds very little excitement for me.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 We are owed a visit by the White Sox. They will be the only team to never come to Shea to play us.

Phillies are in Cinci that monday on the wraparound of a 4 game series. Mets home opener in line to be a Tuesday this year.Cubbies games also added in. Only a 2 game trip to Wrigley, but Cubs play next to last series at Shea.
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 nothing new on the schedule, but if you're going to be in Chicago on Tuesday April 21st, you can take in a day/night New York/Chicago DH.Mets will be playing the Cubs, probably in the afternoon (getaway day for both teams).Yanks will be playing the Sox on the South Side (a night game since it's the start of a 3 game midweek series).
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Some of the Phillies dates switched around. Astros to Shea dates added and Mets in Anaheim dates confirmedon edit: and Dbacks at Shea in June. Only really need Nats, Cards, and Jints and Rox shea visits which can be plugged in and inferred.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I hope that the Mets don't open the season on Sunday March 30th in the first game at the new Nationals ballpark. That would mean flying from Florida to Washington and then back to Florida to start the season. Not that it's rough for them to travel on charters, but let somebody else do it.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I hope they DO play that game.I'd like to be able to watch the season opener on Sunday night on TV, rather than watch it on GameCast while sitting at work on a weekday afternoon.I care more about my convenience than I do the Mets players'. Especially after that September they gave me.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 If this schedule holds, 2008 will mark the fourth consecutive May 27 when the Mets play the Marlins. The last three were in Miami.

Especially after that September they gave me.I agree... I enjoyed them starting the season off in St. Louis this past spring. But I also thought that ESPN tends to rotate those season-opening games from year to year and that it'd be unlikely for the Mets to kick off back to back seasons in prime-time.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 From today's Daily News:"The Mets are expected to play in the Civil Rights game March 29 in Memphis. Major League Baseball is still considering having the Mets officially open the season the following night at the Nationals' new stadium."That would be two showcase games for the Mets... not bad for a team that didn't make the playoffs. Oh snap!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Add the Civil Rights Game to the Hall of Fame Game as games that I think should count.I don't think that "showcase" has to equal "exhibition."
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 more or less a finished product there, Nats schedule hasn't been officially released, but that's where they fit in. Bad news if you want to check out the Mets visit the Nats new digs, you'll have to burn a vacation day (or just leave work early if your name is Edgy), since they don't play any weekend dates there this year.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Just my luck. I will be in Seattle for a conference (June 22-29) next summer and the Mariners will be visiting Shea. At first I misread the schedule and thought the Mets were visiting Seattle while I would be there. Then I noticed that it was the Mets that would be hosting the series. So close and yet so far. To make matters worse, the Mariners are on the road the entire time we will be in Seattle, so I won't get to see any games and add another stadium to the list of those I have visited.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Papa Benedict will be saying mass at the new Nats statium April 17.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Boston and Oakland open up the season in Japan for a two game series March 25/26, Sox are home team.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Maybe I can get at outdoor wedding incorporated into the mass.
