Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Well, they were once called the 'Spiders'.* Indians should have won that game about 5 different timesThey out-baserunnered the Yanx about 10 to 2 at one point but Wedge small-balled them out of several of those runners; one got caught stealing, one on a pickoff (where were you going Kenny?), I think two on GiDPs, and one thrown out at the plate (he was dead but w/2 outs it was the right call to send him IMO). Not that Pettitte doesn't also deserve a lot of the credit.* And geez Eric you think you bunted enough? Between giving up runners (most of which were leadoff) and giving up outs you were doing Torre a lot of favors.* Funny thing is the little talk radio I heard today mostly consisted of Yanqui fans complaing that Torre didn't bunt enough in Game 1 (guess that would have helped erase that 2-touchdown defecit)* Now 0-fer-7 with nothing but infield pop-ups & Ks, the ARod choke watch is officially on.* Only the Yanx could turn a 1-1 9 inning game into a 3+ hour affair
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 That was just a classic. Loath to admit so but Pettitte is a magnificent competitor. I mean, leadoff triple and he stopped them cold, picked off Lofton, etc etc,Glad to see Joba the Fatt blow one too. He had that coming weeks ago.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 How about a bloated Clemens losing game 3That return speech to save the Team from Steinbrenners box was sick..What a friggin mercenary

The Indians actually grew out of the Cleveland Blues of the Western League...though one imagines Spiders fans had loads of Cleveland blues by 1900.

They were a pretty darn good club. Same thing actually happened with the Baltimore Oriole dynasty of the same era.
