Only 1 late-night start (thursday) and since that will most likely be on a day when we're home (assuming the worst doesn't happen yyybbb) that'll wind up being an Anaheim, Arizona, or SD home game.

I can see us, however, getting assigned several mid-day games as the TV gurus will want to grab as many Yanx & Cubs games for prime time as possible.

The time slots I most want to avoid are 1:30 on the 3rd and 10:30 on the 4th.

If the Phillies win the wild card, the Mets could very well be in Arizona to open the series.

I think the Mets will get stuck with the 1:30 game on Wednesday. The primetime game will almost certainly go to either the Red Sox or Yankees. The 5:00 game would presumably go to Phillies/Cubs at West Division Winner.

The Mets may get stuck with the 3:30 game on Wednesday also (with the primetime game going to the Red Sox or Yankees, and the 10:30 game to the Phillies/Cubs at West Division winner.

The Mets could open in Arizona if the Cubs surge past them and the Mets finish as the third-best division winner. (And the Padres or Rockies take the wild card.)

They could also open on the West Coast if they win the Wild Card and the Diamondbacks or Padres (or Phillies) end up with the best record in the league.

Mets-Cubs in the NLDS would probably get us some good starting times, if nothing else.

Unfortunately, the only team I'd feel somewhat comfortable playing in October is the Marlins, and I don't see that as a plausible scenario.

the Jets play the Giants at 1:00, I'd think both NY teams want to avoid the 12 and 330 slots but that means one of them is on at "TBA" which is likely 10pm on the west coast. that could be the mets playing sunday night in san diego?

If the Mets have home field, Game 5 would be at Shea. (The Division Series goes 2-2-1.)

It's strange how both NL series play all five games (barring rainouts) on the same days.

Another difference from previous years is that usually the postseason opens on Tuesday. We're seeing the effects of their new scheduling methodology here.

Next week, we can figure on only Wednesday's and Thursday's work days being disrupted. I can watch a 5 p.m. start on TiVo delay easily enough. (I'd drive home with my radio off or with a CD playing.) If they play earlier, I'll take a personal day.

What happens when games run long and overlap? Would the later game start on TNT, like we've seen in the past with ESPN and ESPN2? The 3 and a half hours between games won't always be sufficient, especially when you're talking about playoff games.

This possibility is eliminated with any 1 Mets win or 1 Cubs loss.

Since Arizona has a record that is 5 games better than the Cubs (with 4 to play)-- the West division winner is guaranteed to open at home. Therefore if the Phils take the division and the Mets win the 'card, they are definetly playing the West division winner.

My understanding is that the "TBA" game happens only if all 4 games need to be played, and that it would probably overlap with the existing games. Presumably Turner would want to avoid an overlap with Giants/Jets, so they could schedule that "TBA" game at, say, 5:00 if they wanted.

NL is, AL is not - not only in the days they're playing but also that there will be an extra day off in the one series compared to the other. Also new is that the best overall record will get their choice of which schedule they want. The best NL team will have that choice next year as they'll flop the sked.

Just announced that TBS's # 1 announcing team of Chip Caray and Tony Gwynn will do all Yankee games in the Divisional Series, no word on who will do the Mets games.
