Let's try this again...

="Gwreck"]

Aw, come on.

They're playing the Nationals and Marlins.

They're going to go 6-1 over this week and we'll be in a position to clinch by Tuesday of next week...maybe Wednesday.

In pregame transactional news, Dave Williams was called up and Brian Lawrence was DFAed.

According to Metsblog.com, Tom Glavine suggested in an interview with WFAN today that the team would likely have a closed-door, players-only meeting before the game tonight. Glavine also stated it would be the first players-only meeting in the 5 years he's been a Met.

Yancy - "I'm as wild about Dave Williams as I am about Brian Lawrence."

At least Williams sucks from the left side.

Confirming what 'Monk said, Burkhardt was on SNY before from the field
and said that they had a meeting. Willie left and came out to talk to the
media and do a session with them, and the team was left alone for a good
forty minutes. No word if anyone emerged injured or bloodied.

Nice way to start.
Reyes walks and is forced out on Castillo's grounder.

Castillo comes all the way around on a deep double by Dave.

1-0 us.

Wowzers.

Beltran drives in Wright with a single.
2-0
Alou follows with a single.

The boys found their hittin sticks.

Green walks.
Bases all fulled up for Dookie.

As each run scored, I'd note to myself:

Okay, that will make up for the one that Mota will give up.

And that run will make up for the run that Sosa will give up.

Oh! Now that one will make up for the run that Schoeneweis will give up!

Paul sacs in a run, and Endy singles in another.

Maine flys out and as the dust settles, its
4-0 Mets.

HA!
You guys are making me laugh.
No fair.
I must stay in touch with my doom and gloom.

Maine gives up a grounds rule double to Zimmerman in the 1st, but the Nats cant plate him.

Can a guy who looks like this
ever look mean from the mound?

4-1 HR for Kearns ... I can only pop in here a little but a) how big does a lead
need to be safe and B) why do I feel like this is gonna be one of those AL type
almost four-hour games that I'll likely catch the end of on Fast Forward?

Logan triples and scores on the Lopez sac fly.

5-2 Mets

Coming on to pitch for the Nats, ex Metropolitan Mike Bacsik.

Just getting here.

We're winning? What, did Willie turn over the clubhouse spread or something?

But seriously, I read that Paulie or Glavine or Delgado was talking about a team meeting.

Yep, the old team meetin' went down.

] Mets manager Willie Randolph said that some of his players came to
him and asked to address the team. Randolph said he talked to his team
"briefly" on Tuesday, then left the players alone when he came out to speak
to the media.

Players declined to discuss the meeting when they took the field for
pre-game warmups, but Tom Glavine said earlier in the day that he might
ask a few veterans to talk to the team

Nats score and threaten more but only come away with the one.

5-3 Mets.

Don't know how Maine looked that inning, but he didn't read well.

Anyone who can see: Can we get 2-3-4 more innings out of Maine?

Im loath to see any middle relievers tonight.

Milledge is on to pinch run for Alou at second base. Alou didn't hurt his leg again, did he?

Meanwhile LoDuca doubles in Milledge. Endy will try to get LoDuca home. And he does with a single.

I hope not.

Now there's a surprise, Reyes pops up to the shortstop in shallow left field to end the rally.

Mets lead 7-3 going to the bottom of the 5th.
