Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Let's try this again...="Gwreck"]Aw, come on.They're playing the Nationals and Marlins. They're going to go 6-1 over this week and we'll be in a position to clinch by Tuesday of next week...maybe Wednesday. In pregame transactional news, Dave Williams was called up and Brian Lawrence was DFAed.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I'm as wild about Dave Williams as I am about Brian Lawrence.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 According to Metsblog.com, Tom Glavine suggested in an interview with WFAN today that the team would likely have a closed-door, players-only meeting before the game tonight. Glavine also stated it would be the first players-only meeting in the 5 years he's been a Met.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Yancy - "I'm as wild about Dave Williams as I am about Brian Lawrence."At least Williams sucks from the left side.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Confirming what 'Monk said, Burkhardt was on SNY before from the fieldand said that they had a meeting. Willie left and came out to talk to the media and do a session with them, and the team was left alone for a goodforty minutes. No word if anyone emerged injured or bloodied.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) Nice way to start.Reyes walks and is forced out on Castillo's grounder.Castillo comes all the way around on a deep double by Dave.1-0 us. Edited September 18, 2007 by Guest

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 4-0 early lead.No way does this team blow one of those ... oh wait.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 As each run scored, I'd note to myself:Okay, that will make up for the one that Mota will give up.And that run will make up for the run that Sosa will give up.Oh! Now that one will make up for the run that Schoeneweis will give up!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Paul sacs in a run, and Endy singles in another.Maine flys out and as the dust settles, its4-0 Mets.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 HA!You guys are making me laugh. No fair.I must stay in touch with my doom and gloom.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Maine gives up a grounds rule double to Zimmerman in the 1st, but the Nats cant plate him.Can a guy who looks like this ever look mean from the mound?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 The Nationals haven't named their new stadium yet? What's up with that?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Castillo single is the only noise the Mets make in the 2nd.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 4-1 HR for Kearns ... I can only pop in here a little but a) how big does a leadneed to be safe and why do I feel like this is gonna be one of those AL type almost four-hour games that I'll likely catch the end of on Fast Forward?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Green negates Kearns.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Logan triples and scores on the Lopez sac fly.5-2 MetsComing on to pitch for the Nats, ex Metropolitan Mike Bacsik.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Just getting here. We're winning? What, did Willie turn over the clubhouse spread or something? But seriously, I read that Paulie or Glavine or Delgado was talking about a team meeting.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Yep, the old team meetin' went down.] Mets manager Willie Randolph said that some of his players came to him and asked to address the team. Randolph said he talked to his team "briefly" on Tuesday, then left the players alone when he came out to speak to the media.Players declined to discuss the meeting when they took the field for pre-game warmups, but Tom Glavine said earlier in the day that he might ask a few veterans to talk to the team
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Nats score and threaten more but only come away with the one.5-3 Mets.Don't know how Maine looked that inning, but he didn't read well.Anyone who can see: Can we get 2-3-4 more innings out of Maine?Im loath to see any middle relievers tonight.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Milledge is on to pinch run for Alou at second base. Alou didn't hurt his leg again, did he?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Meanwhile LoDuca doubles in Milledge. Endy will try to get LoDuca home. And he does with a single.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Thats a big run there. And there as Chavez drives in LoDuca.7-3 Mets.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Now there's a surprise, Reyes pops up to the shortstop in shallow left field to end the rally.Mets lead 7-3 going to the bottom of the 5th.
