Has anybody caught his act in Coney Island this year? He's had a great season, and a great season from a catching prospect is a thing this team can use, even if it's as low as Brooklyn.

hey, I know catchers can mature late and all, but he's gotta be producing at a higher level than that by now.

you know I don't actually mind the mets WANTING brooklyn to be a kinda mini flagship. I think for the brand that's a good thing, for players to taste a bit of success on the long way up is a good thing but there's just no point in getting excited about the numbers, nor any reason for someone to hang around there more then a season.

The down side is that the poor fans in Savannah could give up on any second-half help coming. Those suckers watched Tim Teufel's charges limp to a .304 record (.304!) and Sand Gnat hasn't posted in months.

It's no surprise that both teams want their NY-Penn League teams to do good. The Staten Island Yankees have 4 NY Penn League titles in the last decade and are 2 time defending champs with another postseason berth this year.

Brooklyn also has deep fences, and thusly, big ole gaps.

I have no problem with the Mets caring more about the Cyclones than the Sand Gnats (as long as they don't stunt any player's development unnecessarily by holding him down too long.) As Norfolk proved most minor league affiliations are temporary, but the younger Wilpon is part-owner in brooklyn (as Steinbrenner is in SI.) Those teams are with the organization to stay, theres no reason NOT to treat them like they matter more.
